First post of NPC month! Woooooo!!! Let’s hope I can keep the ball rolling 😅
Hunger
Avantica & Child!Reader
For anyone familiar with the Little Nightmares games, reader is somewhat similar to Six from the first game
Ability gained: +1 to Strength
Fire spread fast across the village, you paid little mind to the distant screams while you stare down the parasite that thought it a good idea to cross you… well more like former parasite, as the man’s corpse still stares at you with terror in its dulled eyes while you wiped the blood off your mouth. You weren’t the cause of the fire, as much as you would’ve liked to, no, someone else decided to cause havoc to the village and you were sure you’d take advantage of the opportunity. A shadow looms behind you, slowly you turn to face its owner, not a shred of fear present on your face.
“My my, well aren’t you just the savage little monster.” The woman smirks at you.
“I’m not a monster,” you state blankly, “I’m a kid.”
“No child I’ve ever seen can rip a mans throat out with their teeth so easily.” She points out before adding. “Nor has anyone ever been so calm in my presents. Do I not scare you?” You raise an eyebrow at this.
“Should I be?” You answer her question with your own. Her smirk only grows at this.
“I think you and I are going to get along real nicely…”
~~~~~~~~~~
You did what you do best below deck, pest control, chasing down any pests and reaching into the smaller nooks and crannies to get at them. It was easy work for you by now, having been stuck with Avantica for about a year and half now, going along with her delusions of power. You didn’t care much for the patron she worshiped, this Uk’otoa creature not really striking your interest despite her obsessive ramblings over it, sure you’ve been play along, but that doesn’t mean you had to like it. The cellar door opens and several sets of footsteps are heard making their way down, you hear Avantica’s voice amongst them and you knew what this meant, she wanted to make an example to whoever these, possibly newcomers were. You’re theory that they were newcomers was proven correct, you’ve never seen a group so colourful and odd before, but curious of them as you were you sat back and waited for your cue, perfect timing too as that familiar gnawing in your gut makes itself known.
“If I may be so kind to ask, why bring us down here?” The half-orc questions
“Some have come to me with… ill intent. I wish to show that I myself, as well as my crew are not people to be trifled with.” Avantica explains, giving you the small signal to make yourself known. You step forward, close enough so this group could see you but keep enough distance away from them to stay out of their reach. You stare them all down, taking in the shocked expressions, sizing each of them up. The blue one steps towards you, her first mistake.
“Oh my gosh, hi! Are you okay? Are you hurt?” She asks, looking at you concerned, she misjudges and underestimates you, her second mistake.
“I’m hungry…” You say blankly, noticing the goblin stepping closer as well.
“Here! It’s a bit crumbly, but I have this pastry you can eat.” She says cheerily reaching towards you, her third and biggest mistake.
“That won’t be good enough.” You say, tone never shifting away from being emotionless. “You’ll do just fine.” She barely processes what you said before you bite into her shoulder, she screams in shock and pain the others with her prying you off of her, but not before you rip off a decent piece of her flesh. The tiefling stumbles back, clutching at where you bit her, a look of horror on her face as you stare back at her while swallowing the fresh meat, wiping some blood away with your wrist. There’s a surge of energy that courses through you then out of you, you look yourself over for a second before looking beside you at the darkened and slightly unstable silhouette of yourself, guess with a lack of a deity this new ability couldn’t reach its fullest potential, not that you cared so long as it still does it’s job.
“What did I tell you,” Avantica laughs, “not to be trifled with.”
Ability gained: Invoke Duplicity
~~~~~~~~~~
Evening approached which meant you were free to roam the ship without the crew getting in the way, though with the gnawing coming back, this being the fastest it’s ever re-emerged, you wished at least one forgetful soul stuck around. But then again you had some new treats, and a new skill, to play with…
The ship creaked as it swayed with the waves, the eerie silence otherwise didn’t sit well with Beau as she sits up from her sleeping area and surveys the room. Something about the atmosphere felt off as she gets up, the floor boards creaking under her as she shifts and moves around. She carefully steps as quietly as possible to the door, poking her head out into the hall, where upon sensing no immediate danger she fully steps out of the room. The boat sways subtly against the waves almost like it’s trying to lull her back to sleep, the harsh creak of the floorboards pulling out of such a mindset. To her left the hall was dark and empty, to her right what little moonlight shone down the hall was partially blocked by a figure standing as still as a statue.
“Damn kid…” Beau mutters under her breath, wanting nothing to do with whatever they were doing. She stares at the silhouette feeling them stare back at her. “What do you want, you little freak.” She hisses through clenched teeth, that’s when you let your little illusion drop, the duplicate’s silhouette shattering into pieces as you approach.
“I’m not a freak,” you say, as monotonous as ever, “I’m worse.” You manage to step back and avoid the strike Beau throws, using the moment to grab her arm and bite into it. She shouts in pain, reeling her arm away from you and quickly clutching tightly to the wound, but you already got what you needed, feeling a surge of energy rush through you, jabbing it out at her sending her to her knees. You disappear into the darkness down the hall as the others from her group stir to investigate.
Ability gained: Stunning Strike
~~~~~~~~~~
“How lucky you are.” Avantica chuckles ominously. “You finally get to relieve your sea legs for a bit.” She was, of course, referring to your mission on Urukayxl. You knew the only reason she even wanted you there was to gain power for her advantage, at least that’s how she worded it. She was never one to tiptoe around her true intentions with you, your purpose, the reason she decided to keep you alive was solely to benefit herself, and you fully knew about it. On the other hand, you yourself had secret intentions you kept quiet about, just waiting patiently for the perfect moment, and if you were being honest, since the arrival of this Mighty Nein group you’ve felt that perfect moment drawing closer and closer.
“Can’t wait to get started.” You say as blandly as ever.
“Good. Now why don’t you go inform our new recruits we’ll be arriving soon.” You nod and turn to make your leave. “One more thing,” she quickly adds, “while you’re at it, if you could tell their ‘captain’ I’d like word with him.” Again, you nod in acknowledgement and leave her quarters to find said group…
“How exactly do we plan on dealing with that psycho child around?” Beau paces the room, unconsciously touching the scar you’d left her.
“With Avantica watching us like a hawk, can’t say there’s much we can do.” Fjord sighs, glancing over at Jester who, while was doing better, still shivered at the thought of their first encounter with you. “We’ll just need to tread carefully.”
“Who’s treading carefully?” You ask suddenly appearing behind him, causing the half-orc to jump away from you with a yelp of surprise. You look at him unfazed. “You’re not planning against the captain, are you?” You give a slight tilt to your head in minor curiosity.
“W-what? No! We were just saying how it’s best to tread carefully… around the crew. You know, s-so we don’t get in anyone’s way. Right guys?” They mumble rather unconvincing responses but you could honestly care less what they were doing.
“Captain says we’ll be arriving soon, and for captain Tusktooth to see her.” You deliver the message and leave before any of them have a chance to respond. You make your way down the hall when you hear someone approach from behind making you pause to turn towards them. “Can I h help you?” You stare down the goblin woman.
“I got my eye on you, kid. So you best watch your back if you try hurting anymore of my friends.” She threatens, you simply give her a hollow stare.
“Okay.” You start, a familiar gnawing beginning to form, it has been a few day since your last… episode. She turns to leave, her mistake. “Maybe you should be more concerned watching your own back.” She whips around at this but you’ve already disappeared from your original position, watching as the goblin panics while looking every which way. You felt the gnawing grow ever so slightly but held off on the urge, you’d have your chance soon. Urukayxl was going to be quite the interesting trip…
Haha! Cliffhanger! I’m so evil 😈 In all seriousness I will, eventually, get to making a part 2. Anyways, hope you still enjoyed, let me know what you think 😁
March is finally upon us! And so starts the beginning of NPC Month! LET’S GOOOOOO!
Nothing More Valuable
Gilmore & Child!Reader
Set some time after Wild Surge
It’s almost hard for you to believe that just a few months ago you were actually adopted, and not by just any random person either, but one of the best shop owners in existence, a one Shaun Gilmore. Some mornings you’d wake up half expecting it all to have been a dream and are always thankful to realize it wasn’t. Today proved a little different when you wake up feeling a little stuffy in the head, part of you wanting to just roll over and go back to bed, and you almost would it not for the knocking at your door.
“(Y/n), you awake? Or shall I come back later.” You hear Gilmore on the other side of the door. You stretch and sniffle as you climb out of bed and open the door for him, being greeted by his smiling face. “Ahh, there you are. Ready for the day as much as I am?”
“Almost,” you say with a small yawn, “just need to get dressed and clean up a little.” You return the smile and he nods.
“Then I’ll leave you to it. But do be quick, I have a special task for you today.” Gilmore says as he closes the door. Hearing you had a special task perks you up a bit, though your head still feels stuffy you choose to ignore that as you hurry to get ready for the day and rush out of your room.
“I’m done!” You announce with a proud smile.
“Ah, glorious!” Gilmore beams back walking over to you. “Now, are you ready for that special task?” You nod eagerly, stopping when there’s a minor dizzy feeling rattling around your head, note to self don’t be too eager. Gilmore chuckles and hands you a slip of paper alongside a bag of gold. “I’ll be holding a special sale soon and I’d like for you to grab the items on the list for me while I prepare the finer details at the shop.”
“You mean I get to go to around the market all by myself!?” You look to him excitedly.
“I do, you’ve learned the layout enough and I’m confident in your abilities.” He reassures, finding your excited bouncing amusing.
“I won’t let you down.” You salute him, as if you were a solider assigned a serious mission, before heading out the door. Gilmore let’s out another amused hum, a much softer and fond smile on his face as he watches you disappear into the growing morning crowd before heading to the shop. You’ll be fine, he figures, you’ve done trips like this all the time with either him or one of his trusted employees, yet even with that thought in mind it didn’t shake an uneasy pit to form in his gut…
It was growing closer to midday and that small pit Gilmore had sank into a deep worry, you should’ve arrived by now. He tries shaking off any worse case scenarios, reasoning that the market can still be just a bit confusing for someone still so young or perhaps you’d run into someone you knew and struck a conversation with them, maybe both. Yes, that had to be it, Gilmore was an outgoing person and it’s no secret that you had come out of your shell a lot more since he took you under his wing. Yet as the day progressed, evening starting to approach and still no sign of you, that worry was now slowly slipping into a fear that something was wrong.
“Sherri, I’m going out.” Gilmore says in an oddly firm voice, Sherri nods to him in understanding, truth is she too was starting to worry about your well being but kept it to herself so she’d remain professional in front of the costumers. With Gilmore’s concern growing by the second he barely registers the new arrivals at his shop, the questions they ask unheard as he casually brushes them off and heads for the door. It’s only when a hand is placed on his shoulder and a familiar voice makes him pause.
“Gilmore? Is everything alright? You’re never one to just walk away like that.” Gilmore looks to the rouge, Vax’s face showing concern for his friend.
“I… you you wouldn’t happen to have seen (y/n) on your way here, have you?” Gilmore asks with slight hope.
“I’m afraid not, why? Is something wrong?”
“I sent them out to pick up a few item for me, I haven’t seen them since.” The worry was evident in his voice, gaining the attention of the rest of Vox Machina. “I’m sorry, I don’t have the time to stay any longer.” With that he turns for the door again.
“We’ll search with you.” Vax quickly adds making Gilmore glance over his shoulder at him. “We know how much (y/n) means to you, and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we’d all like to see them return safe and sound, right?” He looks to his group getting a nod from everyone, some more enthusiastic then others.
Gilmore, now with the help of Vox Machina head to the market and spread out to start their search for you, asking around to see if anyone knows anything of your whereabouts. This, to Gilmore’s dismay, came mostly unsuccessful and now was when worst case scenario was starting to bleed into his thoughts. Where could you be? Did someone take you? Were you hurt? What if- His thoughts come to a screeching halt as he turned to look down a small alleyway, the very familiar figure laying on the ground, laying in a small puddle of their own blood nearly making his heart stop. Gilmore rushes to you, checking your pulse and breathing a slight sigh of relief when he finds you still have one, now he carefully lifts your unconscious form in his arms and leaves the alleyway, spotting Pike not too far away and calling for her.
“Please, help them.” Gilmore near begs, Pike wasting no time in healing you. When she steps away you’re still out cold but at least you were stable, Gilmore sighing in relief. “As always your devine magic is well appreciated.” He thanks.
“Oh, it was nothing.” Pike smiles. “You should take them home to rest, I’ll tell the others you found them.”
“Wonderful, and as thank you for the help I’ll allow you all a fifteen…” He pauses a second to look at your sleeping figure. “Ahh, what the heck, you each can take one item free of charge.”
“Whoa! Wait, really?!” Pike stares shocked, Gilmore nods with no hesitation.
“Generous, I know but… no item could be more valuable then them.” He smooths some of your hair back, a caring look in his eyes as your body shifts a little to rest more comfortably in his arms. With that Gilmore heads home, Pike giving a quick wave before using her earring to update the others.
When you finally open your eyes it’s dark outside, stars could be seen through the window. What happened? You remember going to the market and then sneezing… oh right. Your realization turns to a groan when your head starts throbbing, the stuffy nose doesn’t help either. The door opens softly and Gilmore steps into the room, surprise crosses his features when he sees you sitting up in bed, he walks over and kneels down at the bedside.
“Hi, how are you feeling?” As much as he wanted to smother you in a hug knowing you were safe and well, he refrained, not wanting to accidentally hurt you himself.
“I feel icky, dizzy and my head hurts.” You huff a little. “I’m sorry I couldn’t get what you needed.” You quickly add but Gilmore hushes you.
“There’s no need for apologies. I’m just glad you’re alright. What happened? Did someone hurt you?” From soft and gentle to looking ready to smite someone in an instant, a rare sight to see from the shopkeeper.
“… no, it wasn’t like that.” You say just above a whisper, you cheeks reddening from feeling a little embarrassed, Gilmore’s quick to notice.
“It’s alright. Tell me what happened.”
“Ummm, well, I was in the market and looking for where to pick up the stuff you wanted when a-Ah-AHCOOO!!” Before you could stop yourself you sneeze, a surge of magic activating and sending a few items tumbling to the floor. “Th-that happened, but a lot stronger and I blacked out… I think I’m sick.” You finish sheepishly. It’s quiet for a moment before he lets out a soft chuckle.
“Well, I’m just glad no one tried targeting you personally. Now you rest up, I’ll fix something up for you when you wake again.” He encourages, you lean forwards and give him as best a hug as you can.
“Thank you.” You mumble into his shoulder.
“For what?” He hums curiously, retuning the hug.
“For caring for me. You’re the best papa ever!” Gilmore’s touched by your words, a content smile on his face as he places a gentle kiss to the top of your head.
“Well… thank you for allowing me to do so. You’re the most valuable thing to ever enter my life.” He replies sincerely, you beam at him before letting out a yawn, Gilmore tucks you into bed and quietly exits the room as you finally laying down for some well needed rest.
I don't know when you'll see this but could i get something for Marion and a sick Child reader for Npc month?
I'm currently sick and Marion is one of my favourite NPC's so i just had to.
I love Marion, she’s such a sweet and loving mother 😁 And I hope you’re feeling a lot better!
[Side note: I had a plan, started writing for said plan then diverged from the plan and this was the result]
You groan as light enters the room, throwing the covers over your head to stop the brightness from bothering you further. This, sadly, doesn’t deter your sister from bounding over to your bed and jumping onto your sheets and, by extension, you.
“Come on sleepy head! Wake up!” She shakes your shoulders, you cringe at the volume of her voice and turn away. See, while you and Jester may be twins, you were far from identical, she had blue skin and violet eyes, most likely from your father, while you had red skin and amber eyes like your mother. She was full of energy and ready to tackle the day, you felt like you were going to cough up a lung.
“Hello my little sapphire and garnet, breakfast is ready and waiting for you.” You hear your mother’s much softer and calmer voice enter.
“(Y/n) won’t get up.” You hear Jester pout, not long after that you feel the bed dip and your mother speaks again.
“Why don’t you get a head start and we’ll join you when we can.” You cover your ears at the loud squee Jester makes before she’s off of you and bounding down the hall. “(Y/n)?” Your mothers voice is so much more calming to listen to, making you partially peek out from your covers before the urge you’ve been holding back to cough and gag takes over and you’re curling in on yourself, even tearing up a bit at the awful feeling. “Oh, my dear. Again?” This wasn’t the first time you’ve fallen ill like this, and based on your track record it won’t be the last time either, something you were slightly jealous of Jester for was that she seemed to rarely get sick, if ever, while you got sick a least twice a month.
“Can you close the curtains, please. The light hurts.” You mumble under your blankets, the weight on your bed disappears for a moment, reappearing soon after with the room significantly darker then before. “Thanks.” You sigh, finally remove the covers over your eyes and relax a little.
“Of course my little garnet. I’ll go fetch one of the staff to deliver your special breakfast while you rest.” She says, giving you a gentle smile.
“Yeah… okay…” You trail off in a dejected manner. Marion’s smile falters slightly, hating how resigned you’ve become to your situation while she was helpless to do anything that could actually help cure it. It wasn’t like you were cursed but either way she couldn’t exactly bring you to a cleric seeing as you and Jester were kept secret from those outside the Chateau, leaving Marion feeling stuck.
“I’ll come check on you again in half an hour, okay?” She tries to sound reassuring, you look at the soft smile she has knowing full well she’s trying to stay strong for you, you offer one back as best you can before having to turn away so you don’t cough on her.
As promised Marion came back to check in on you as well as a few of the staff helping to keep you comfortable and cleaning up any mess that may have been made. When she inevitably needs to step away she’ll have Bluud check in periodically, sometimes bringing some medication to help with the fever and headaches. It was nice to know everyone was trying to help you feel better but you still felt awful for having to take out time in their day because you weren’t well enough to do anything yourself. Evening was approaching, not that it mattered to you since you’ve been in one place all day and the few times you did get out of bed weren’t for very long. You lay in bed, staring up at the canopy above you deep in thought, not bothering to look over when you catch your mother enter the room at the corner of your eye.
“Mama?” You start, still not looking over but you know you’ve caught her attention. “Am I a burden to you?” Already you can feel tears welling up.
“Are you a- no. No, you could never.” She sits down beside you and starts to gently comb a hand through your hair. “Why would you think that of yourself?” You manage to push yourself into a sitting position, Marion’s quick to help stabilize you letting you lean against her as she continues to comb trough your hair.
“I’m always sick and need help from everyone, but even if I’m better I still can’t do much like Jester can. I don’t know, I just feel like it’d be easier if you didn’t have to take care of me all the time.” You admit tearfully, your voice coming out weakly while you try holding back the rising urge to dry-heave.
“Oh my darling,” your mothers grip tightens around you, but in a comforting way, as she holds you closer. “You are no burden to any of us. I like that you let me take care of you, it lets me know you always feel safe with me and it just makes the times you’re better all the more worth cherishing. You know I love you, my little garnet.” She places a soft kiss to the top of your head.
“I love you too, mama.” You reply feeling a little better, both physically and mentally. “Ummm…” You pause a second, hesitant to ask your question. “I know you have a show soon but… can-can you sing a song for me?” You look up at her curiously, she smiles warmly at you.
“But of course.” She starts singing a soft lullaby for you, letting you lay back down and relax as her voice fills the room.
Bonus:
“(Y/n). *psst* (Y/n), you still awake?” You hear Jester ask, you peek an eye over at your sister confused seeing her look intently at you.
“Yeah, I guess so.” You mumble shifting over, Jester helps you into a sitting position before crawling onto your bed to sit next to you.
“Here, I want you to have this.” She beams handing you a folded piece of paper. You already knew it was another of Jester’s get well soon cards since she always made them for you but there was something a little different about this one. When you open the card it had the usual ‘Get Well Soon’ written on it but normally the picture was of you and her smiling and doing some sort of activity indoors, this time it was a picture of you and her outside with a third figure.
“Did you sneak out again?” You question, a small laugh coming from you when Jester shrugs with a mischievous smile.
“But look, look.” She points to the picture again. “See, it’s you, me and the Traveler all playing outside together.”
“Jester you know we shouldn’t leave, or at least I can’t anyways. I wouldn’t make it 3 steps before collapsing.” You sigh turning into a harsh cough, Jester grips your hand in hers and the beaming smile was now a look of determination.
“Then I promise you one day I’m going to become super strong and find a way to help you and we can go on adventures together when we’re older.” She vows.
“Really? You think that can actually happen?” You ask, a small glimmer of hope sparking in you when she nods.
“I swear on the Traveler’s name I will find a way to help you!” She cheers, you cover your ears at the noise.
Wondering if you could show the Clay family some love! Maybe a little one got left on their doorstep or their mother passed away from a illness and the clays where nice to take them in!
Hope you are doing well! I know taking a break is something everyone needs now and then! Sending lots of hugs and sweet your way!
Hello Corn! (can I call you Corn, is that alright?) Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot ❤️ And I agree, all the love for the Clay family
Set pre-campaign 2
Constance had decided to take an evening stroll to survey the area, the blight hadn’t spread any further yet, which she was very thankful for but why this sudden urge to walk so far was unclear, perhaps the Wildmother may have something to show her. She picks up the sound of muffled cries and hurries to the location, gasping in shock at the lone infant left on the ground, their long, pointed ears easily giving away their heritage. Immediately Constance lifts the child into her arms, noting they weighed next to nothing. The sudden movement has the baby crying harder.
“Shhhh… shhhh… it’s alright little one. I’m not going to hurt you.” She calms the infant, their cries turning into soft whimpers. “There you go dear. Let’s get you home.” Constance makes her back to the temple, careful with her movements as to not disturb the child again. She takes this extra time to look over the baby, aside from the light weight they seemed unscathed by anything, and after holding the child for so long she could feel an almost divine power surging through them. She was now certain the Wildmother brought her this child for a reason, what that reason was is yet to be fully determined but she had high faith in what was to come.
“Mama! Where did you go? You were gone so long!” Clarabelle’s voice pulls the mother from her thoughts. “Whatcha got there?” She tilts her head trying to see what her mother was holding.
“Clarabelle, dear. Could you get your father and siblings for me?” Constance asks. With an eager nod Clarabelle dashes off calling for the rest of the family. Watching her youngest daughter dash away, Constance got to work gathering a few ingredients together to make a sort of formula to feed the child in her arms. Chuckling slightly when the child greedily drank it down and finally opened their eyes, letting her see the bright (e/c) orbs. “Hello little one.” She smiles, now realizing the child still didn’t have a name. She looks at the blanket their wrapped in, a sorta tag with the shops name stitched on one of the corners ‘(Y/n)’s Capes and Cloaks Emporium’ an odd name to be sure, must’ve been a local shop wherever the child came from, though the name had a nice ring to it.
“Clarabelle says you have something to show us?” Cornelius questions as he approaches, their four children not far behind, all of them having some variation of curiosity on their faces.
“Not something, someone.” Constance corrects showing them the baby. “I’d like you all to meet our newest member to the family, (y/n). I expect you four to treat them like you would each other.”
“Does that mean I’m a big sister now!” Clarabelle jumps in place, her parents chuckle at her giddiness.
“It does… would you like to hold them?” Constance asks, Clarabelle nods eagerly. “Alright, but be very careful.” She slowly hands her daughter the little elf.
“Hi! I’m going to be your big sister, and I promise to be the best one there is.” Clarabelle smiles, eyes practically sparkling in awe, (y/n) stares at her with curious doe eyes for a moment before breaking into a small fit of giggles.
“Hey, don’t forget about me too.” Calliope huffs playfully.
“I’m gonna be a better older sister then you.” Clarabelle teases her.
“Are not.”
“Are too.” The two softly glare at each other, Clarabelle sticking her tongue out at her sister, who in turn copies her as they continue this silent rivalry. Soon enough Clarabelle notices (y/n) is no longer in her arms, taking a second to frantically look around until her eyes land on them in her brothers arms.
“No fair Caduceus, I was holding them.” She whines.
“Just making sure you don’t drop them by accident.” He simply says.
“I wasn’t.” She pouts, crossing her arms, Caduceus just gives a small shrug.
“Better safe then sorry.”
“You keep them safe? Please, I’m the protector of the family here.” Colton puffs out his chest proudly.
“Oh? Well, in that case would you like to hold them?” Caduceus raises (y/n) up to be at eye level with Colton. (Y/n) tilts their head to one side before slapping their little hand onto Colton’s snout making him jump back slightly, they proceed to giggle at his reaction, as do the other three. “I think I’m really going to like you.” Caduceus turns (y/n) to face him again, they yawn in response.
“Okay, that’s enough. It’s been a long day for (y/n) and they’ll as much rest as they can.” Constance informs, walking over to take (y/n) from Caduceus.
“But didn’t auntie Corrin once say elves don’t need as much rest as we do?” Calliope asks.
“That may be true when their older, but (y/n)’s still very young and thank the Wildmother I found them when I did, and they’re doing a lot better already. But they’re still not in the best condition, and are going to need to regain a lot of strength before they take part in any activities.” Constance then starts rocking the baby in her arms, easily lulling them to sleep while her other children let out slight disappointed awww’s.
“You kids heard your mother, nothing too exciting and crazy around your new sibling. Now let’s get inside, I’d say it’s getting pretty dark out.” Cornelius wasn’t wrong, they sky had darkened quite significantly in this time. Slowly but surely everyone made their way into the temple to go about their nightly rituals before finally settling down for bed.
Figured I’d keep this one pretty simple, maybe I’ll do more for this future? We’ll see
i think it’d be lovely to see like a younger sibling with Kaylie for npc month, just sweet moments of them bonding 💖
Who doesn’t love some sweet sibling bonding time 😊
WARNING: one instance with themes of sexual assault implied near the beginning, but not said outright
“Kaylie! Kaylie! Look what I can do!” Your voice chirps as you bound up to your sister. She looks over and watches you with interest as you jump as high into the air as you can (which isn’t even an inch off the ground), try to do a twirl then proceed to trip on nothing and land on your bottom. You huff for a second before beaming at her again.
“Wow, someone’s gonna be real athletic when they’re older.” She smirks, the minor sarcasm in her voice going right over your head.
“Yeah!” You cheer. “I’m gonna be the best dancer ever, then I’ll get to dance to all those songs you play.” The smirk on her face turns to slight shock then to soft admiration.
“Well then, we best keep practicing together.” She grabs her instrument, you’re all too elated to get up and start dancing even before she started playing, earning a small chuckle from her.
Kaylie thought back to the day her mother came home tearfully after hours of working just so the two could eat for the day, and the shock she felt when Sybil told her that she’d be a big sister. Kaylie didn’t fully understand how that could be, after all, her father left them before she was born. It wasn’t until she got older that she understood what had actually happened. Of course she felt no ill feelings towards you for it, it wasn’t your fault and how could she be upset with how sweet and optimistic your personality was.
“Hey! Why’d ya stop playing?” Your voice cuts into her thoughts as she realizes she’d paused completely in her song.
“Ah, sorry. Got a lil’ distracted is all.” She brushes off casually and begins playing again much to your delight.
You were out in the market with Kaylie while your mother was busy with work, looking to get some food for dinner but waiting in line was sooooo boring. You look in every which way to try and find something interesting to watch but come up with nothing, so instead you start humming a little tune to yourself, swaying around as you do. You had improved a lot in your dancing skill, something you very much pride yourself on and as you pick up your own tempo, completely ignoring the happenings around you, you start to hear actual music play. Taking a small peek to see Kaylie playing her flute, encouraging you to continue which you happily do. Your sibling duo performance drew in a nice crowd and before you know it Kaylie set out a tray for people to toss money into, why pass up on an opportunity after all.
When you finished your little performance Kaylie counted up your spoils while you fiddled with the pocket knife she had gifted you a while ago.
“Remember, not everyone wants to be yer friend. It can be real dangerous for folk like us, and I’m not always going to be there to save ya, so be sure to always keep a keen eye out for trouble. Got it?”
Her words echoed in your mind as you look over at her again, she looks up from her counting and you offer her a big smile which she returns with a softer one. You felt so lucky to have a sister like her.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Do ya really have to leave?” You look to Kaylie with glossy eyes.
“Aww, hey. Don’t look so down. I promise you I’ll send ya plenty o’ letters so you don’t miss anything.” She reassures you. You stick out your bottom lip in a small pout but give a slow nod.
“You better.” You mumble, Kaylie ruffles your hair which helps lift your mood a little. “I’ll be sure to send plenty of letters back so ya know how I’m doin’ too!” You say placing your hands on your hips proudly, this earns you a soft chuckle from your sister.
“I’m looking forward to it.” With that she sets off, you wave to her shrinking figure even well after she’s out of your eyesight.
~~~~~~~~~~
Kaylie finished her latest letter to you telling you all about Dr. Dranzel's Spectacular Traveling Troupe which she recently joined. Though part of her did worry that now she was going to be on the road more often there’d be less time for her to send and receive letters with you. She shook her head of the thought not wanting to think so negatively as she stared at your letter she received earlier. It detailed how you’ve been keeping up your self taught dance lessons and how well you’ve been improving as well as putting your skills to the test to make a few extra coin so your mother didn’t have to work as hard now. Kaylie gives a side smile to herself as she stores the letter away with others you’ve sent her and heads out to deliver hers before heading on the road.
Hope this isn’t too odd a place to be leaving this but this was all my brain decided to conjure up 😁
What about being the adopted child of Allura and Kima? Just having two awesome badass moms who teach you magic and how to break someones nose. And also maybe the kid is older and becomes part of Vox Machina much to their dismay and horror (mostly from Allura) but them still being supportive.
My wonderful friend, you never disappoint with these requests, I love every single one you’ve sent 😍 I hope I’ve hit the right mark on this one for you
Leaving Home
Kima and Allura & Teen/Young Adult!Reader
You’d already been training with the two for some time now, and while it was never officially said, you considered both of them to being your mothers. Now granted this was some time before they’d become an official couple, like you were the glue that kept them together before they sealed the knot. It was nice in all honesty, Allura taught you about the different forms of magic while Kima showed you how to properly bash skulls it was a bit of an odd mix between magic and melee combat but you didn’t mind it one bit and enjoyed every second learning from both of them. You quick learning and fine skills certainly didn’t go unnoticed by others either. Your friends, Vox Machina, always commented on how much you developed your skills every time you’ve seen them and every time they do you jokingly state how you couldn’t wait to join them on their adventures. It was a fun sorta inside joke with them, until the day it wasn’t…
It had been about a year since the Chroma Conclave’s defeat, Kima and Allura were finally official, the wedding was small but beautiful as you got to happily watch your mothers finally marry. Your 18th birthday was only a few days afterwards and it was just as nice of an event, just the three of you spending the day together, everything was perfect. Then you broke the news that you would actually be joining Vox Machina on their adventures, much to Kima’s surprise and Allura’s horror.
“I’ve been talking with all of them for a while about this and they’re all okay with it. Vex even joked that it was about time I finally followed through with my promise of joining them.” You explain to them.
“I just don’t understand why you’d do all this without telling either of us first?” Allura questions, still wrapping her head around everything.
“Hey don’t get yourself twisted up Ally, you knew we couldn’t keep them tied down here forever. Eventually we had to let them go and see the world for themselves.” Kima tries to soothe Allura’s worries, she lets out a soft sigh.
“I know, I know. It’s just, I can’t help but worry for you.” Allura places a gentle hand on your cheek, you place yours on top of hers and give a light squeeze.
“I’m not a little kid anymore, mom. I can take care of myself, and I’ll be around people we can trust so there’s no need to worry.” You reassure.
“Honestly it’s because we know these people so well that worries me.” She starts. “But you’re right, you are your own person and I cannot hold you back from experiencing the world for yourself.”
“Thats the spirit!” Kima cheers, shifting her attention over to you. “Now (y/n), I want you to take this and keep me in mind when your beating anyone who thinks they can take you on!” She then hands you a mace she’d, apparently, had on her this whole time. You could see the look on Allura’s face, she was going to give Kima a talking to later you were sure of it.
“Thanks ma, I’ll take good care of it and bash in villains skulls just for you with it.” You say with a smirk as you accept the gift from her, she matches your smirk with her own.
“I raised you well.” She says, wiping a fake tear from her eye.
“We raised them well,” Allura corrects, “and here. A little something to record your adventures with.” She hands you a leather bond journal, you happily accept her gift as well.
“I’ll be sure to try and save at least one spell each day so I can cast Message to one of you, keep you updated you know.” You smile.
“I’ll be expecting it.” Allura hums, her expression softening once more. “I never thought I would see the day my little baby would finally go off on their own. I’m both very proud and extremely terrified.” You and Kima chuckle at this, Kima moves to stand at Allura’s side, placing a kiss on her forearm which seemed to help calm her a little.
“You go have your adventure, I’ll keep a good eye on your mom here so she doesn’t try following after you.” Kima teases, earning a small but playful glare from Allura.
“If anyone’s going to be keeping an eye on someone so they don’t follow, it’d be me watching you.” She pokes right back, their antics making you laugh. You give both of them a nice long hug.
“Mom, ma, thank you both for everything. I hope I’ll make you proud.” You say, feeling a few tears well in your eyes.
“Oh (y/n),” Allura starts, tears welling in her own eyes.
“You already have.” Kima finishes for her. You can’t help but give one final hug to both of them (because they deserve all the hugs) before finally grabbing your things and setting up a Teleportation Circle to Whitestone. You steal one last look over your shoulder at your mothers, who both give you supportive smiles and waves. You step through the circle, onto your first real adventure…
I think this turned out well for what it is, kinda feels like a kid leaving home for college though, except more magical and highly dangerous but you get the idea
You stated I can send you as many as I want Peach so be ready.
Okay first of all I want Gilmore with a kid that has magical powers it can't control which is why they got kicked out of an orphanage. He found them and took them in, helping the kid with their powers and teaching them other useful things. And at the end he just slides the adoption papers over to the kid and says "You can stay if you like, I always wanted a kid of my own."
Something along those lines.
First request of the month is done! This was a joy to work on, idk what it is about the shopkeepers that just makes me want to give all the warm and fuzzy vibes by the end but I’m not complaining. Anyways enjoy! 😁
Wild Surge
Gilmore & Child!Reader
Warning: Self doubt, intrusive thoughts (idk if this classifies as a full warning or not but I just wanted to be sure)
The doors of the orphanage slam shut behind you as you’re left alone once again to the outside. You didn’t mean to fill the halls with slime or summon all those locusts, you just couldn’t help that your emotions made your magic run a little… wild sometimes. You sigh to yourself as you trudge away from the building, maybe it was better this way, at least by yourself you won’t cause anyone else more trouble.
"Now what is a young child like yourself doing out on the streets all alone?" A sudden voice makes you jump in surprise. Looking over your shoulder you see a man dressed in beautiful, velvety robes looking back at you with curiosity and concern.
"Me?" You ask, pointing at yourself with a tilt of the head, he nods. "Umm, I was just leaving." You mutter out as you try to walk away again.
"Oh? Leaving to where exactly?" He questions further. You pause for a long moment, not bothering to look back at him.
"Nowhere." You finally say.
"Well nowhere sounds no fun at all. I know somewhere much better then nowhere." The man struts over to you and gives you a large smile before offering his hand to you.
"I’m not really supposed to go with strangers… besides you probably won’t want me around for long anyways." You shy away a little, his smile drops at your words but comes back in a gentler manner.
"Well, you wouldn’t know that for sure unless you tried." He comments, you stare at him confused. "You say you have nowhere to go and you believe no one wants you around, I propose you spend one month with me and we shall see if you’re right in your notion." You were absolutely bewildered by this man, so eager to have you around of all people. You think about it for a minute then turn to him with a nod.
"Okay, but ummm… well if I am going to be around you for a month, shouldn’t I know your name?" You ask. His eyes widen in realization and he laughs to himself.
"My my, how could I have forgotten my manners. Please, call me Gilmore, and you are…"
"I’m (y/n)." His smile was an infectious thing, finding yourself smiling back.
"(Y/n), what a lovely name. Come along now, we have a long month ahead of us." He holds out a hand for you once more, this time you hesitantly take it…
The first week together was an interesting one, you and Gilmore spending some time getting to know each other a little better, and him help you to come a little more out of your shell each day. Honestly you really didn’t want to mess this up, this was the first and maybe only nice person to you in who knows how long, so you did your best and managed to keep your magic mostly under control. That is until an odd group of adventurers barged into the shop.
"Oh Gilmore de-" A half-elven woman starts but stops short when you yelp in surprise, magic surges through you before you can stop yourself and before you know it the interior of the shop is covered in mud. I mean, at least it wasn’t acid this time but it’s still embarrassing. Everyone is frozen in place for a moment, registering whatever just happened, and when Gilmore turns to look directly at you do you really start to feel the panic set in.
"I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it, honest!" You apologize hurriedly, you were physically shaking in fear of what was going to happen next. To your surprise he doesn’t start yelling at you, instead gently leading you off to the side.
"Care to tell me what that was just now?" He asks in a calming tone. After a second of hesitation you nervously explain your little magic problem. He listens to every word you say carefully, letting you finish before speaking up once more. "I think I know what’s going on here." He starts, you more then willing to get yourself some answers lean in a little closer, as if it’ll help you hear him better. "You my dear child are what people call a Wild Magic Sorcerer, whether you were born with it or even gifted it is uncertain and controlling such magic is near impossible." He informs you. You’re glad you finally had an explanation as to why your magic was always so all over the place but at the same time you were sad to know you’d never be able to stop the problem.
"So I’m always going to be like this." You sigh sadly, looking down at the floor and shuffling your feet about timidly.
"Now now, no need to sound so discouraged, little one. You may not be able to always control it but, at the very least, you can tame it so its effects aren’t as devastating." He says softly, using a finger to lift your chin up to look at him again.
"Really?" You stare back with big hopeful eyes, he nods.
"Of course, now it is going to take time and practice. Luckily we have a month ahead of use to work on this. If you’d like." He says with that iconic smile of his. This time you give a big smile back as you nod in agreement. "Wonderful! We can start tomorrow. Firstly I’ll need to attend to my costumers while you can help the staff clean up, sound fair?"
"Okay." You give a smaller nod this time as the two of you head back into the main shop.
The second week proved very helpful, because you were born with magic flowing through you, albeit by unknown reasons Gilmore was able to help you practice with it. You started off slowly, still very worried about messing up and once again getting kicked out into the streets. Gilmore would always take quick note of this and was there to encourage you, guide you into being more comfortable with using your own magic and slowly but surely helping take your fears of abandonment away from you.
"You’re doing tremendous (y/n)!" Gilmore cheers, when you successfully preform a spell with no wild surge following after it.
"You really think so?" You question giddily, he nods and the excitement in you suddenly corses into an uncontrolled magic surge, (f/c) illusionary butterflies begin fluttering around you. "Oops…" You mutter sheepishly, he just chuckles.
"No worries, they add a bit of pizzazz, don’t you think?" He smiles at you and you can’t help but smile back.
It was by the end of the third week that your nerves started acting up again, the month was nearly over and pretty soon you’d be leaving. It scared you to think that you let yourself get so attached to this man you’d just met at the beginning of the month and now your time with him was almost over. You didn’t want it to be over, you wanted to stick around longer but you’d also noticed that Gilmore hadn’t been around as much during the week, going off who knows where doing who knows what. The closer to the end of the month the more and more your fears piled up pretty soon you couldn’t contain yourself any longer and before you know it a large surge of wild magic courses through you, causing a mini tornado to whip around the shop. Shelves were knocked over, items thrown everywhere and costumers were hiding to avoid any damage on themselves. When the dust settles all eyes are on you as you shrink into yourself and back away.
"I-I’m sorry…" Is all you can mutter over and over again. Sherri, the employee you’ve come to know the best over the course of the month, slowly turns to look directly at you and lets out a sigh as she shakes her head. If it were possible you curl into yourself more, just wanting to disappear from everything especially once you actually have a look around at the mess you’d made.
"What is the meaning of this?" Of course fate wants to see you suffer as now of all times is when Gilmore returns to the shop, you don’t turn around to face him but you know he’s looking at you. You couldn’t face being rejected and thrown out again so instead you turn on your heels and sprint out of the shop without a word, ignoring the calls of your name.
You run until you feel your legs burn, turning to hide yourself in an alleyway before finally sinking to the ground and start crying, magic crackled off of you but it was small sparks that thankfully didn’t do much. Why did this have to happen, why did you have to be born like this and why did you have to ruin everything at the end, everything was fine until you freaked out and destroyed the shop, no wonder nobody ever wants you around. You just wanted the world to open up and swallow you whole, take you away from everything so you wouldn’t cause any more problems for anyone ever a-
"There you are! I’ve been looking for you everywhere." You thoughts are cut off by Gilmore’s very familiar voice, though this time it didn’t have its usual bounciness to it but a more caring, concerned tone. You glance over at him, doing a double take and fully looking at him shocked when you see he’s taken a seat on the ground next to you. "I’ll admit, not my preferred terrain to sit on but this isn’t about me right now." He comments, noticing your stares.
"Wha-what are you doing here?" You start shakily, confused as to why he even sot you out in the first place. "The month’s over, I was supposed to leave anyways." He frowns at this.
"Is that what you thought? Is that why you acted the way you did?" He asks in a soft voice, you just shrug in response. "Well then, I think you need to have a look at this." He says, brightening up to his usual self a little. He hold out some papers for you to take, you hesitate for minute before taking them from him and looking them over. Reading through the papers there were a lot of big and formal words you didn’t quite understand or know the full meaning to but there was one word you understood that makes you look back at him with wide curious eyes.
"Adoption?" You stare at him for confirmation, he gives you a kind smile and nods.
"Yes, you see about a month ago I met this child who thought no one would ever want them, so I offered to see just how true that was and why. Over time I learned they had a power to them that they couldn’t control and because of this others pushed them away instead of helping them learn and adapt to it. Now I know I’m quite the eccentric man who loves the theatrics and presentation, but this child also helped me by taking a step back and remembering to slow down and take my time with things." He pauses for a second as if to demonstrate. "I know I haven’t been around much these last few days but I really wanted to make sure everything was in order. So that, if you wanted, you could stay with me as your legal guardian. I certainly would love to have you around, magical surges and all." When he’s finished you have to take a moment to really let the words sink in. Was this real? Did he really want to adopt you? If it weren’t for the papers sitting in your hands you wouldn’t have believed it. Now tears were streaming down your face not in sadness but pure unbelievable joy, you nearly tackle Gilmore to the ground in a hug, he has to steady himself before returning the hug. "I’ll take that as a yes?" He says, his voice showing clear joy in it as well.
How about this! The M9 walk into The Invulnerable Vagrant and are met with a new sight, a small firbolg who somewhat resembles Pumat himself! They later find out that the young firbolg is his younger sibling who's visiting him from the academy for spring break or whatever.
WOOO SPRING BREAK!!!! I sorta made up my own rules for how the academy works since we don’t really see too much of it. Fair warning, it’s also not perfectly related to canon so yeah. Hope you guys still enjoy 😁
One Wild Week
Pumat Sol & Sibling!Reader
You, much like all the other kids in your class you flick your eyes anxiously at the clock ticking by, ears twitching in anticipation as you vaguely listen to your instructor ramble on about the different postures used in spell casting or something along those lines. Finally the sound of a bells toll indicates the end of the session, everyone quick to get up and pack their things.
“Remember to practice your study sheets over break everyone!” Your instructor calls as you all file out of the classroom. You weave your way through the halls, out one building and into another as you head to your dorm, upon entering you stash away your bag full of notes, grab a different bag and begin packing everything you need for the week ahead of you.
“Can’t wait to see your brother I assume?” Your roommate asks (feel free to come up with your own name for them), packing away their own things.
“Yeah, it’ll be nice to spend some time with him over break. What about you? Any progress with your parents?” You look at them curiously.
“Still a little nervous to come out to them about everything, my mom’s a little confused about all of it, but they’ve both been supportive so far so we’ll see.” They reply sheepishly, you give them a reassuring side hug before the two of you go about finishing packing away everything and head your separate ways for the week.
Making your way out to yet another building, passing some of the students that were spending their break on campus, a few eyeing you oddly. Sure it wasn’t everyday you’d see a firbolg attending such a highly sophisticated school but you were cut from a different mold, much like your brother, Pumat. You followed the crowd heading over to what most students simply called the portal room, because that was where a majority of the teleportation circles were located, to keep things organized and all that.
“Anyone heading to Zadash, over here please!” A supervisor directs, pointing to different circles for each location. You hurry over and join the few others who were also headed for the city. The attendant there casts the spell and the portal opens to the Hall of Erudition’s portal room in Zadash, you make your way through, take a second to orientate yourself before making your way out of the school grounds and into the streets.
Already knowing where to go you start your trek over to the Invulnerable Vagrant, noticing the curious looks you got from a rather colourful group of people. Normally you’d just ignore peoples stares, but what draws your attention to this group the most is that they themselves had a firbolg walking around with them. You shake off your thoughts and continue to your destination, and in no time at all the shop comes into view, one of your brothers simulacra was outside, setting up a sign for special deals during the week. You playfully roll your eyes, of course he’d use this opportunity to promote his wares to anyone on break. When they’re done setting up the sign the duplicate turns and takes note of your presents, offering you a warm and welcoming smile.
“Well look who’s here already. We thought you’d be here by noon, respectfully.” He starts, you let out a small giggle.
“It is noon, silly. I think you boys have been a little too busy with your promotions you forgotten the time, respectfully.” You reply, matter-of-factly. He looks to the sky for a second, most likely looking to where the sun was located before looking back at you.
“What do ya know, it is noon. Why not come on inside, I’m sure Pumat prime will be just eager to hear all about your time at the academy.” You nod and the two of you head into the shop. Inside you see the other two simulacra’s were hard at work tending to customers and grabbing different items to stock up the shelves, the one who you were with outside goes to help them while you give the other two a wave before disappearing behind the curtain to your brothers workshop area. The man in question completely focused on the item he was busy enchanting, you take a peek over his shoulder to have a better look at the shield he was working on.
“So what sorta enchantment are you placing on it?” You suddenly ask, getting a small kick out of Pumat’s surprised reaction.
“Now what have I told ya about sneaking up on me while I’m in the middle of work?” He gives you a side look, you fake innocents with a shrug.
“Ya know we don’t get to see each other often enough, what with me being at the academy in Rexxentrum while you’re here in Zadash, so I can’t say I remember.” He sighs and shakes his head while you try to hide your chuckle. He stands and turns to properly face you, he stood taller then you by about 2 feet, of course you being the younger still had plenty of time to catch up in height.
“You little stinker, don’t think I don’t see that smile your trying to hide, you know exactly what I’m talking about.” He gives you a glare but you know it’s a playful one, especially when it quickly turns to a friendlier smile. “It’s good to see you again.” He says, holding open his arms for you.
“It’s good to see you too.” You quickly accept the hug, he gives you an extra tight squeeze and lifts you off the ground making you huff and him laugh before he sets you back down.
“So, tell me all about your studies, you’re still partaking in conjuration right? Or am I thinking of someone else?” He asks curiously.
“Yeah I’m doing the school of conjuration still, I’ve gotten really good at it too, but shouldn’t you get back to work? I know I interrupted you before but I’d feel bad if I put you behind on any orders.” You give him a concerned look, he just waves you off.
“I can multitask, besides listening to you might help pass the time more.” He reassures. You give him a big smile and start talking all about what you’ve been learning, and how well you were doing in your class, all while Pumat works away at different orders he had been given either from customers or the assembly…
It’s been a couple days since you arrived taking the time to settle in and catch up a bit with Pumat, even getting him to help you with the study sheets or one of his duplicates to help whenever he was busier with work for the assembly, quickly getting those finished. You did your part to help out around the shop as well, happily greeting costumers and helping them look for whatever was in their interest and budget. The door chimes open and you see the same group of adventurers you passed by when you first arrived enter the shop, you straighten yourself out and go to greet them.
“Why hello there! Welcome to the Invulnerable Vagrant! How may I assist you today?” You ask them kindly.
“Whoa! Pumat really does have a tiny duplicate!” The tiefling says shocked, you laugh a little at this.
“I’m not a duplicate, I’m his younger sibling! The name’s (y/n), nice to meetcha.” You greet, holding out a hand for her to shake.
“Nice to meet you too (y/n), I’m Jester.” She accepts the handshake with a bubbly smile.
“We were not aware Enchanter Pumat had a sibling here in the city with him.” The red head looks you over curiously.
“Well normally I’d be in Rexxentrum at the academy but I’m on break right now and since he’s the only family that lives closest to me, and the only one who understands me the best, I came over to visit for the week.” You beam.
“So you are a lot like him finding yourself not fitting in too much back home.” He says rather factually.
“That’s right… I’m sorry, what was your name sir?” Now you look at him curiously.
“Caleb Widogast.” You hold out a hand for him to shake which he accepts, much more hesitantly then Jester did. You go around greeting the other members of the party, letting them go to browse the shop with some help from either yourself or the other Pumat’s. Sometimes Caleb would as you some questions about the academy or your magic school of choice, you happily answering all of them. The party goes to purchase their items when you catch faint movement at the corner of your eye but when you look over you don’t see anything so you brush it off as nothing, or you would’ve if it wasn’t for the fact that Caduceus now had a knife in the back from the mysterious dark elf figure sticking halfway out of the ground before said figure disappears into the ground again.
“Pumat’s upstairs!” Your brother calls, his simulacra hurrying up the stairs. You look around frantically trying to figure out what just happened and who that figure was, the sound of an arrow hitting a table draws your attention over to Nott, then just as quickly directing it over to Beau when she hisses in pain, just catching the same figure disappear back into the floor. Jester then runs past your field of vision, but now there was two of her, your head feels like it’s spinning from everything happening all at once. A hand gently yet quickly pulling you up onto the counter helps you slightly refocus on the situation, looking over at Pumat having been the one to pull you up. “You alright?” He asks you quietly, you nod and properly refocus yourself. You flip through spells within your spell book trying to find something to aid in the fight, a lot of what you knew not looking to be the most helpful for this particular situation, aside from one spell. Grabbing your components, you take the thread in your hands tying it around the bone piece so it attached to the end of the silver whistle before you blow into the whistle at a high frequency directed close to the centre of the room, casting Faithful Hound. Your spell already reacting and taking a snap at wherever the figure was hiding…
~One fight scene later, because I’m too lazy to write the whole thing out~
The Inevitable End was finally taken care of… at least for time being and after a small debriefing of the situation from the Mighty Nein they make their way out of the shop to their next destination. You, still a little shaken up from the whole encounter make your way over to the spare room you were staying in and just stare up at the ceiling while everything set in. You didn’t know how long you were laying there but a knock on your door has you slowly getting up to answer it.
“Hey, how’re you doing? You okay?” Pumat asks, concern evident in his voice.
“I’m alright, just needed some time to really let everything set in I guess. All that time training at the academy and I still wasn’t prepared for the real thing.” You sigh shakily.
“Don’t go beating yourself too hard, no one was prepared for whatever that was.” He reassures you. “In the meantime, care to help me get everything needed for our friends?”
“Okay.” You say quietly with a nod, the two of you grabbing what you needed. While getting a few things set up you notice the concentrated look on your brothers face. “What’re you thinking about?” You ask, his head snaps in your direction now looking confused.
“Not much why do you ask?”
“You looked like you were heavy in concentration, you know, like you were trying to decide something in you head. So what was it?” When his expression turns more somber do you begin to worry.
“I guess I was thinking, these folks sure got themselves in some serious dung, getting attacked in the middle of my shop and dealing with some cult stuff. I figure they might need some help…” He trails off a little, your ears flatten against your head when it all clicks together.
“Then I’m coming too.” You blurt out.
“Absolutely not! This seems to be extremely dangerous, the last thing I want is for you to get yourself hurt… or worse.”
“You think I like the idea of the something like that happening to you? As far as I’m concerned you’re the only family I have, I don’t want to lose you.” You can feel the tears already sliding down your cheeks, Pumat walks over to you and wraps you in a comforting embrace.
“I don’t want to lose you either, that’s why I have to do this. Everything will be alright, I promise.” He says, quietly shushing your small sobs.
“You better.” Is all your able to vocalize, finally returning in the embrace.
The next day the Mighty Nein finally return to the shop, you do your part to help them in anyway you can before they have to make their leave to save the last member of their party and stop this evil force called the Angel of Irons. Part of you still feeling that sense of dread when Pumat grabs his things to join with them, at least they seemed happy for the help.
“You bring my brother back in one piece alright.” You say as they start filing out of the shop.
“Don’t worry, we’ll make sure he makes a safe return.” Caduceus assures, offering a calm smile.
“You can count on us (y/n)!” Jester beams, both of the clerics help ease your worries just a little bit.
“I’ll be back lickety-split, and I trust you’ll keep a good eye on the shop for me until then.” Pumat pats your shoulder. You let out a small hum and nod.
“Yes, I’ll make sure nothing catches fire while you’re gone.” You lightly tease, earning a soft punch to the shoulder. You watch as they all leave and once they’re out of sight you step back into the shop where the three simulacra are chatting with each other. You take a breath to calm yourself then call for their attention. “Alrighty boys, what’ll it be. Get ready and open the shop for the day or we have a day out to relax and do whatever we want, respectfully.” You figured the best way to keep your worries off your mind was a well needed distraction.
Is this an odd spot to stop? Probably, but I couldn’t really think of more, sorry
