I had an amazing time this weekend supporting my friend Ron at his first ever men’s fitness competition. I’d always been curious about the world of bodybuilding/fitness competitions so it was pretty cool to get an up close and personal look at all the behind-the-scenes action that goes into producing those images of “chocolatey, goldeny, orangey goodness” that we usually only see grace the covers of magazines, tv and film screens. One thing I noticed about this very niche community of bodybuilders and fitness athletes, is that it was diverse across age, gender and racial lines. Im talking Black, White, Latino and Asian men and women of all ages competing in and in the audience supporting the event (hell, even @50cent was there in the audience looking like the fine piece of chocolate that he is 😝). Attending this event dispelled a lot of the myths I had about the bodybuilding community and opened my eyes to yet another way of how we as people organize around our shared interests and backgrounds. While I can’t say I’ll be joining the ranks of these bodybuilders anytime soon, I will say that I have developed a newfound respect for these men and women... . . . #npcbodybuilding #npcbikini #npccompetitors #bodybuilding #mensphysique #workhard #womensphysique #womenbodybuilders #womensfitness #fitandfab #hustlewhileyouwork (at Teaneck Marriott At Glenpointe)
