It was sometime in the morning. It couldn’t be afternoon yet, he’d been up all night to know that he hadn’t slept until eleven or twelve. Or maybe he’d lost track of time that it was later than expected. Aiden wasn't not entirely sure. He feigned sleep under the thin patchy blankets in the barn, kept his face buried in the crook of his elbow just to make sure no one else would catch him staying up all night. But now Aiden was in a long since abandoned bedroom of the farmhouse, sitting on the floor facing a propped open window, his back supported against the edge of the old bed.
It was supposed to happen, David being shot that was but Aiden still felt icy after it all. Being in a group for so long made him forget the possibility of death, of how vulnerable they all really were. That barn house was supposed to be safe. Aiden clenched his eyes shut and knew he could only wait for the axe to fall, because if his life thus far had taught him one thing, it was that gravity was a cruel bitch and was rarely on their side. His ribs ached just thinking about it. He sighed and dragged a hand over his face. Paranoia desperately sucked.
