swords are gay they will not be taken from us. Thats my half baked pre coffee analysis and im sticking by it
You know what now that im thinking about this a little more i think asides from the inherent trendiness returning around swords, and fantasy imagery and symbolism that is borrowed by certain cyberpunk aesthetics, people who appreciate sword symbolism tend to believe they have something worth fighting for, a right worth wronging(¿), or a cause that they may believe to be misunderstood and should be defended
We dont see the same attachment to shields or really armor as the pair to swords in these specific instances shown above maybe because she isnt really defending anything, but using it for the sake of a symbol of violence (above) and what i clocked at first glance to be that famed heroic riteousness of fighting for a place when you already have one ie. Carving others down in your name (the genesis screencap) Im taking out my ass here but its interesting to think abt
oh i think you’re so right about what the sword might signify in these cases. thank you for your thoughts!! (coming to these comments a week late, sorry about that.)
His namesake Trevor Mallard has sent condolences to the island nation on behalf of NZ's Parliament.
RIP Trevor the Duck.
On a slow Friday a map of a Polynesian island would not go amiss. Niue or termed "Savage Island" by Captain James Cook, when he came into contact with some hostile Niueans in 1774. What I find interesting about this map, is it is approximately a decade or so after Niue was annexed to New Zealand and illustrates several intriguing titbits. Captain Cook' s landing place at Opahi, locations of flags, what seems to Niuen indigenous boundaries, and locations of "extensive cultivations". Everything a colonial administrator would need to govern a new territory. Maps like these are stunning artefacts forgotten in archives about a time not so long ago, when New Zealand viewed the Pacific a bit differently. Maps like these provide lenses into the past as exciting as historic aerial imagery, because, they were reduced to illustrate a particular purpose. NZMS 68 Niue 1916 was sourced from the UoA geodatahub and is subject to re-use under attribution CC-BY 3.0. #captaincook #historicalmaps #maps #history #heritage #nuie #aotearoa #newzealand (at Niue)
