Numark NV — everything you need to know
The advent of many new all in one controllers raises some questions for the DJ who is looking to shed themselves of an older, heavier loadout. One of the biggest questions here is what should be kept and what should be removed from our “idea” of a mixer. Obviously, any gear maker wants to appeal to the best of both worlds. This is why we see mixing units like the SZ series which try to fill the gap between hardware and software. The trouble with devices that can act as a standalone mixer is that it adds much more size and weight to the deal. Going MIDI only proves to be the easier route as there is less hardware to cram inside of the machine. The new NV series by Numark is not a standalone mixer. You must use a laptop if you want control over your music in this manner. To me, this is fine. Since you cannot use it without a laptop anyways, why struggle to replace the common mixer. Numark is betting on the fact that you will actually ditch your hardware if the software emulating it can do a good enough job at it. http://djworx.com/numark-nv-everything-need-know/#.U9gS8vldW1A
