So @argylepiratewd said they wanted to see more people post previews of their @rinchfest work and mine is done and I’m pretty excited about it. Plus the POI fandom has been real kind about my episode reaction posts (thanks y’all!).
This is my first (but almost certainly not my last) Rinch piece. It takes place in Season 1 in between Number Crunch and Super and I’d like to think of it as canon-augmentation. Like this could have been canon, who’s to say it wasn’t?
Without further ado, here’s a preview of “Hands” by me (MiroKai).
Harold leaned back against the ugly green tile wall and squeezed his eyes shut, trying to force his breathing to steady. He was, in theory, watching the door while Dr. Madani operated on John in the morgue. Harold’s breath hitched and he snatched the glasses off his face, digging the heels of his hands into his eyes.
Harold Finch did not cry. Maybe in another life. Maybe under another name. But Harold Finch was stoic, unemotional, caring only about his work with the numbers. Harold Finch did not cry.
The thought of John staggering towards him, clutching a bleeding wound, came unbidden. Harold dropped his hands and put his glasses back on, forcing himself to stare only at the linoleum floor and not see what wasn’t there. They were at the hospital. He had gotten John to the doctor in time. The doctor had taken the money and gone to work. John would be fine. Mr. Reese would be fine. He would be. He had to be.
He didn’t know how long it was before Dr. Madani opened the door. Harold stared at him, eyes wide, waiting for him to speak first.
“It’s done,” Madani said.
The whole piece will go up on Rinch Fest Day 5 for the combo of Reese Whump and Pining. Thanks for reading!
