The sound of a quiet voice calling out to him caught his attention. There behind him was Nunnally, smiling and holding a small box in her hands.
"Here! These are for you!" The girl held the box out to him, the smile on her face widening. He blinked in confusion and took the box from her. Inside it were several brightly wrapped sweets. Not quite sure what brought on the sudden gift, he stared down at them confused.
"Oh, uh, thank you." He plucked one of the sweets from out of the box, placing it in her palm and closing her fingers around it. "Here, you should have one too."
The girl's face lit up at that, clutching it close as she thanked him.
Any minute now she should be appearing around the corner, and in order for it to work he would have to be even quieter than usual. Rolo remained pressed against the wall, waiting for Nunnally to appear. He could hear her getting steadily closer, and when the timing was right he snuck up behind her, a loud "Boo!" near her ear. He watched as she let out a squeak and jumped in her wheelchair, glancing back at him. He laughed, and at the sound of it she sighed in relief. "Rolo! Don't scare me like that."
"Sorry, I just couldn't help it."
"Why does this have to happen?"
Rolo sighed as Nunnally approached. Each and every time she came around, he was set aside and forgotten. All of Lelouch's attention devoted to her. Of course. After all, Rolo was only a stand-in for her. What did he matter? He sighed as he sat at the end of the table, watching Lelouch doting on Nunnally. It irritated him, why couldn't Lelouch ever treat him like that? Showing him affection. Really, that was all Rolo ever wanted.
Seeing no point in sitting there watching, he stood and walked past them. It was at that precise moment however, that Rolo bumped into a vase, sending it crashing to the ground. He sighed as he bent to pick up the fragments, one of the shards slicing open his finger as he did. Just what he needed. He just couldn't catch a break whenever Nunnally was around.
The pale skin of her neck looked incredibly tempting. Just... one bite wouldn't hurt any, right? It had been a while since Rolo last fed off a living, breathing human--biting into the soft flesh and watching as the blood poured out. Just thinking about it made his mouth water slightly and his eyes were drawn to Nunnally's delicate neck once more.
He felt himself drawing nearer. She had fallen asleep some time ago, leaving her in the perfect position. Unable to resist anymore, Rolo moved forward, opening his mouth as his fangs slid out of their sheaths. He pressed them against her soft flesh, feeling them sink in and the blood pouring into his mouth. The girl had let out a soft gasp, still sound asleep. Satisfied, Rolo pulled back, wiping off the remaining traces of blood from her neck and watching as the small wounds closed. Indulging just a little, certainly didn't hurt.
