Today in my art history seminar, we got to look at and handle books from the 15th-16th centuries.

We looks at stuff like Vesalius' Anatomy book from 1543, a copy of the Nuremberg Chronicle from 1493, a copy of Serlio's architectural treatise from the 16thc. There were illuminated manuscripts and treatises.

I could barely contain myself.

In the Serlio treatise, there was even a little doodle in the margin probably from the 17thc of two little stick men in hats fighting.
