Grace has a miscarriage. He didn’t know he was pregnant, hell he didn’t even know he could become pregnant, he’s been on testosterone for years, hadn’t had his period in over a decade. Of course he knew you could get pregnant from activities other than vaginal sex but, again, he didn’t think it was possible for him to get pregnant. Now Carl wants him to see a doctor (several doctors actually because this is like reason 209 Grace needs to be talking to a therapist regularly) but Grace is stealth and stubborn. The bleeding stops after a few days and Grace doesn’t appear to be suffering from sepsis. But at night Carl holds Grace a bit tighter than he did before. He had no idea this assignment would be so messy, how he would become entangled with the man he had been sent to abduct forcibly recruit. He never thought he would be a father. Or have a hypothesis named after him. He never thought he could love somebody so hard to love. And he certainly never thought he’d have to say goodbye so soon.

In the beginning, it seemed so simple. The Senate had informed him immediately upon his awakening exactly who and what his enemy was, and he had not questioned them. Why would he have? The evidence was plain all around him. He arose as Optimus Prime, and immediately set out to war against Megatron; Megatronus, in those days, and his Descepticons. Orion Pax had been weak in those early days, his spark still under shock of taking the Matrix of Leadership, capable of little other than tracking Megatron on the battlefield, the spark always settling in whichever nook of his spark chamber was closest to Megatron.  Another harsh stab of fury filled his processors. The Matrix… Optimus could feel Orion's hatred and fear of it. He couldn't understand it. The Matrix of Leadership was a gift to be bestowed only on those worthy of a Prime. Orion Pax should be grateful towards the Matrix. For millennia… he didn't understand.

Regarding a pregnancy in a logia user like Crocodile…

My headcanon is that the baby is actually only recognized by the fruit as part of the user during the first few months, but then there comes a point where the baby is separate from the user…

More than anything, it's that in a certain way and level, the baby gains willpower or consciousness (due to the stories that the baby reacts to stimuli the mother was exposed to during pregnancy), and it's at that moment that the fruit recognizes it as someone else…

Another way is that the moment the fruit user realizes the pregnancy, consciously or subconsciously, they recognize it as someone else and not as part of them, so the fruit reacts and stops affecting the baby.

There's also the saddest thing: the idea that logias can't get pregnant persists. If the Devil Fruit doesn't recognize the baby as part of the user in the early stages of pregnancy, it's possible that lodges won't get pregnant because they constantly suffer miscarriages when they transform their torso into the element. But beware, these are those so-called silent miscarriages, where you miscarry without knowing you were pregnant, giving rise to the myth that "female" logias become sterile, since male logias can have children.

Of course, this last one could end in a "miracle" with Crocodile, when he ends up not transforming his body for a few months and ends up discovering he's pregnant… It could also reinforce the Shishibukai's identity as a man in the eyes of the Marines or other pirates.

Well, this is my crazy mind and its obsessive ramblings.

I tend to go with your first suggestion as well. That the fruit does at one point recognize the baby as a separate entity with a will of its own, as you said.

I assume that in world, female logia users have been so rare that a misconception about their ability to have children could easily develop, whether it is because of miscarriages or because maybe the user died when not being able to transform. None of the male logia users we know of are confirmed to be fathers, so maybe the common idea is that logia, due to how it transforms the body, generally leads to not being able to have children.

(Both among the Paramecia and the Zoan are fathers and mothers.)

I think if you gave Vegapunk some incentives to investigate, he would find out that it IS a misconception (especially if you let the female satellites chime in with less of a male bias). He'd confirm that Logia users CAN have children, that they can even get pregnant.

(I mean, especially if he got his hand on Crocodile's lineage factor. Sure, he wouldn't be able to replicate his devil fruit but it seems like the lineage factor isn't just a person's DNA, but that it also contains memories and elements of personality.)

I'm always a fan of overthinking such topics within a fictional universe, it's fun!

my sim had a miscarriage and i tried to add the baby to the household as a ghost but it just manifested as an alive (?) infant named Unborn Child and i can't age him up 🤔

[TW miscarriage] I gotta write a bigger piece on it but talking to Dani had me thinking; but since the actual amount of panels that talk about the Hawkingbird baby, I can count on one hand and three-fourth of them happen a singular issue before Bobbi's death and cancelation of the WCA title. I've added details and rearranged the timeline of events, since its so otherwise minimal with canon. I won't ever go into details about miscarriage and medical details, but this/there is reference to that having occured in Clint's past and you have been warned.

Change: Clint and Bobbi did leave the WCA for awhile. They go as far to have even purchased a home for themselves and their plan for a family. They were in the process of buying baby furniture and needs. Something happens, they see a doctor. They come back to the Avengers several months later, not in the way they had planned with a little bundle of surprise and joy; and only tell the WCA they have worked on their marriage, no longer getting a divorce, and Clint saying he couldn't stay away from the team for too long.

The only people that do know about Bobbi and Clint having tried for a family, is US Agent since Bobbi told him, and the New Avengers who were there to overhear the Bobbi (mind you this is a skrull) and Clint reunion upon which Clint checks who she is by asking about October 12; which had been their expected due date years ago when they left the WCA to have a family.

Clint does not talk about, it's simply never comes up and he doesn't volunteer that information. It was a major loss, they were quite a few months along and had a house and plans and everything. The most people may know about if they've looked into a paper trial past is that he and Bobbi owned a house in a nice neighborhood somewhere in California that he sold only a year and a half later.

He has complicated feelings about this and why he doesn't bring it up: partly because with time loss can lessen so he feels some guilt about how much he should still feel or shouldn't still feel about this, but then its definitively the biggest dream that clint ever had was lost, it was shattered entirely, and ties to a part of his marriage with Bobbi that was hard and ultimately negatively effected them.

This loss along with the death of Bobbi and the ending of the biggest happiest dream Clint ever had, does lead to him throwing himself into solidly only being Hawkeye and putting a lot of himself into hero work, which ultimately leads to why he dedicates so much to believing in the Thunderbolts and helping to redeem them, as well as leads to several years of be so wholy dedicated to hero work, as a Tbolt, as an Avenger, even as a solo hero/vigilante until his own death in disassembled/pre-Civil War and House of M.

a health update

so it turns out what i've been going through the last several days is indeed what i suspected it was: a miscarriage. i'm not heavily bleeding or in severe pain as of now, but mentally and emotionally i am. not doing the best. we found out i was pregnant again only about a month ago, and we very much want to have another child, so it feels like such an emotionally dreadful blow. if i'm largely silent on the social front, it's just because i'm processing what's happening.
