Training for Nurse Plus
This week, DDRC Professional Services delivered our first training session for Nurse Plus, a nursing agency which specialises in caring for people in their own homes and in care homes.
The session was on care and using PEG, RIG and nasogastric tubes. After a short PowerPoint presentation we all got gloves and aprons on to have a go. As you can see from the picture all 11 girls were raring to go and we had a fun session using the tubes and giving sets. It all got a bit messy when crushing and dissolving tablets but by the end of the session they had all had a go and felt far more confident. There were lots of questions and discussion especially around matters of medication administration and legal issues, then a quick tidy, informal chat and goodbyes.
We all enjoyed the session and look forward to more training sessions in the future including first aid, nebulisers, syringe drivers and tracheostomy care.
