#nutria brown

One of my replica Delta Force Strike Vests, only this time I used period-correct Nutria Fabric, OD Velcro, and 1988-Dated Nexus Buckles.

Only modern material being the trim, webbing, and thread.

Speaking of the thread, went with all-black so hopefully the vest would sun-bleach to the correct 'gray' color over time.

The reason the velcro has white thread is because a few originals also seemingly have white pure white thread in a couple spots, very hard to differentiate from the faded black thread, but the white has a more 'natural' color while the faded black is more 'bluish' in shade. This was more of an experiment if anything and will probably do all black thread if I do one of these again.

Hopefully with enough dirt and sunshine, I can get both thread types on this replica looking proper.

On the left is the 'Dark Coyote Brown' 1000D material that I use on my Delta Force Strike Vest repros as a surrogate for 'Nutria Brown'.

Comparing it to the fabric on a legit SADF Pattern 83 Rucksack, the colors are almost identical. Main difference is that the legit SADF Nutria material is a little lower saturation and less 'shiny' overall, but this might just be from everyday use and UV fading more than anything.

Just pleasant little surprises.
