rpf is so funny cause with fiction-based fandoms (which is typically what i’m in), there’s a show or a play or a comic or, whatever, a book series, etc., and you… read it. or watch it. and that’s the canon.
whereas with rpf any random thing can be part of ‘the canon!’. you can be deep into the fandom for weeks and months and still be stumbling over new video clips, new pictures, new articles - not actually new ones coming out, though that too, of course, but old and relatively more ‘obscure’ stuff that you haven’t seen. it’s so chaotic!
and there’s something something about the way that the fans and fandom actively construct whatever it is we consider a canon… well, i’m not sure what i have to say about it. but it’s interesting! and it can be fun.
why have i no sexy pretzel-biting gifs to reblog here! tumblr really is a backwater nowadays i guess
for the past couple weeks i kept wanting to post ‘this is not an rpf blog this is not an rpf blog - ‘
- but it’s not! cause i’ve got an rpf twitter, lol. (currently rpf-heavy. same name.)
i mean, i fully do want to write a number of longer things, including that very same post about rpf in the more general case, (and why nine times out of ten i just don’t care? actors aren’t all that interesting? but then i trip and fall, lol, ooops)…
but, no, anyway. it’s okay to enjoy
