Anyway, here are some key takeaways that I noted during the class: - invention is about discovering some new techniques of creating something - innovation is about figuring out how to monetize invention - innovators bring together invention and innovation - as angel investor, we’re more in discovering talents than discovering ideas - startup is not a business! just like embrio is not a walking talking human being - VC tends to avoid expert founders because they know everything exactly how to do it but tend to reject doing thing the other way - the little bit of stupidity is a recipe of successful innovator because it keeps them learning! - VC speciality is in de-risking investors !! - we dont know how much pre-money valuation until we get post-money valuation - if the only thing investor has is only money, then dont be an investor! - what investors bring to the table is expertise, advise, network!! - fail fast! discover dumb idea or smart idea before anybody else! - if you want money, ask for advise - if you want advise, ask for money - look for consultant that is willing to get paid by shares. that consultant name is investor!! - if you want advise on how to not loose, go to bank! - if you want advise on how to succeed, go to equity! - crowdfunding is not to get money, but to get valuation and validation .
