"Oh please- you don't have to do that..."

Kira protests the action as Buck drapes his jacket over her shoulders. Ever smiling, it was enough to keep her warm. She'd been wearing her own jacket as well, but she'd still been quivering. Her nose bright red and her palms rubbing together.

"..... Aren't you gonna get cold?"

His look is insistent, as if Buck could ever get cold! It's what you did for ladies! It was the polite thing to do!

Kira watches him skeptically, expecting him to begin trembling any moment now. As if his sunshine could ever be dimmed.

After a few moments, she relaxes into the beat up coat.

Smells like primrose and leather.

Drinks - from Fiona

ORDINARY THINGS THAT FEEL INTIMATE

[ drinks ] sender brings receiver a drink from a bar/their kitchen

"I didn't even know you had a place outside of the Fort."

Kira makes idle conversation, the shack they're in isn't much, but it's a little respite. Fiona had invited her, perhaps a small housewarming. Should she have brought a gift or something? Was this a Legion safehouse or something?

A moment passes and a drink is slid into her hands.

"Ah- thank you. What is it?" Kira asks cautiously, taking a sniff or two of the cup.

{ The Decanus was wounded badly. His mangled arm bleeds through his meager bandages. The healing power was not strong enough. Regardless, he trained his gun on Kira. He was weak, but capable of violence. } "You . . . help me."

It wasn't a totally uncommon situation. She really needed to stop wearing identifiable markers on her person. The dirty white coat under her ragged coat wasn't the culprit this time, but the Followers of the Apocalypse emblem pinned to her sleeve.

Guns made her nervous, but it was the wolfish eyes deep set in the man's face that put her on edge. He meant business.

"There's no need for such extremes-" She mumbles, stopping in her tracks and opening her bag. Digging for supplies.

"Sit. Tell me what I'm going to see under the dressing."

She pulls out a kit and a baggie of bandages. Might as well get this over with as soon as possible.

She tapped her foot on the hot roof as she looked down at the swarm. “Damn…” she mumbled at first as she thought of their limited options. “That’s a lot of fucking ants…” Fiona walked over to the other side and looked down at even more. The whole place had not an inch of space they could even attempt to slip by.

“The entrance to their colony must be in the gas station.” She dug in her bag and got out two red scarves she drapes it over her head keeping the direct heat off of her for now and hands the second one to Kira.

“Keep the sun off your face and head, I only have few bottles of water, do you have any?” She was worried either one of them could get dehydrated quickly and the tin roof was only getting hotter, making her at least thankful today was a day she wore her boots.

Kira’s already pacing back and forth. Trying to conjure some way for them to get out of this fucking mess. Sure, they could just shoot down at the things, but who knows how many there are in this colony? Then they’d be out of bullets AND still stuck up here.

As she walks by, Kira accepts the wrap, tying the bright red scarf over her head and under her chin. Legion red. She never thought she’d be wearing Legion red. Gah! Focus! “Thanks...” Kira mumbles, obviously more focused on the task at hand.

At the question, the girl nods idly, “Yes yes yes, got a few bottles myself. Exposure in this heat is what worries me. And at night? We will freeze. Do you think they’ll settle if we just pretend like we don’t exist?”

Kira looks at Fiona, pinches the bridge of her nose, and sighs. "Of course- of fucking course. I mean, 'hell' isn't exactly completely inaccurate, considering how absolutely fucked we are."

Stranded on the roof of a building while the swarm of ants below them hungrily gnash at the walls and doors they barricaded. How the hell were they supposed to know the abandoned gas station had been reclaimed by wild life?

The Mojave sun was baking them. They needed to leave, and soon.

"Dawwohhh goddammit." Kira grumbles seeing the other walk into view. Why couldn't she just get some peace and quiet around here? It was her own little camp. Didn't that mean anything to anyone anymore?

She divots a small hole in the sand with her knuckles before setting her bottle into said hole. Gin. The only thing she could handle drinking. Kira always tried to remain in private when she drank because it often times made her more outspoken than usual. Hence why she rarely drank. She hated people talking to her during these times and she was rarely alone.

"Fuck- you wantin' Fiona? Can't you see I'm having a lovely time? How-?" She glances around, "How'd'ja even find me anywhosles? And whaddya fuckin' want? You don't look injured...." She mumbles, looking the other up and down.

"Alright." Kira muses softly, still following the other girls footsteps. As if she wouldn't notice. If anything, Kira hated being told what to do. She wasn't sure if she actually really wanted to go, or if she was now only insistent on coming because the other seemed so insistent on her NOT coming.

“Well of course you don’t.” Kira grumbles under her breath. It wasn’t exactly as if Kira suspected Fiona cared much for anything that didn’t directly involve her.

They hadn’t known each other long, and it wasn’t like they had sat down and really talked. Kira didn’t think she’d really have anything to say that she liked anyway. After all, she was associated with- and seemed quite happy with- her Legion affiliations. You loved who you loved, Kira knew that better than most would think. But to actually seem to align with them...

“I doubt you even have the capacity for such a task.” Kira notes, staring at the gruesome scene before them. The bodies strewn were not of Legion’s work. And if not Legion, Kira dared to ask who could do such a thing or why. A person couldn’t cause this carnage. Not a true person anyway.

“Analyzing aside, I think its best we move on now. There’s nothing of use, bodies are picked clean.”
