Tried ep 2 shouldn't have read the manga because why the fuck did they change it so marcille doesn't know how to run from a cockatrice when it was the other random adventurer. They were like. The only girl in the narrative because we fridged the other one for the plot (present in the story at every turn though yeah yeah) and the first few episodes are only about how she's a complete idiot and loser. The problem with anime is that there's always only one girl. One girl. If there was perhaps a second girl, I wouldn't feel so pissed off because she wouldn't have to represent all girls in existence. Chilchuck literally says: what an idiot. Oh but have pity on her! She's just an immature idiot. Great.

Like, oh Laios who everybody is like: he's so funny, he's so crazy gets to have dignity and not get gutted open by the narrative in episode 3 to show all his faults immediately. No, he's good with a sword, his knowledge is sound, he's smart, he's strong, he's even WISE and good and a good leader. Oh he likes monsters and wants to eat them? Reasonable on several levels. Makes Marcille seem crazy for being weirded out. Marcille? Bad ideas, bad stamina, inflexible thinker, immature on an emotional level, magic of negligible impact (can't even do shit about a basilisk).

The thing is - you could have made Laios or Senshi or Chilchuck a girl. Easy. No change. But naw. Never.

I want to love a character for their strengths before I can love them for their weaknesses and they did NOT do that for Marcille. That fucking sucks
