Host Nat Towsen (VICE, Nickelodeon) combines the disappearing, eclectic lower Manhattan culture in which he grew up (around the corner from the theatre, in fact) with interviews, informative presentations, and the best of the NYC alt-comedy scene. See native luminaries and a few welcome New York transplants, as well.

NY Funny Songs Fest 2016

In its fifth and final year

Thursday, May 19 - Saturday, May 21, 2016

Shows include Just The Hits Thursday May 19 at The Unicorn, with local musical comics, the Out of Towners showcase boasting visiting acts, and Late Laughs, a late night comedy music concert.

On Friday, May 20, The Unicorn Parade offers a mini-tour of Chinatown, sprinkled with street performances. It’s trailed by 50 Funny Songs, hosted by Carolyn Castiglia and featuring 50 comedic musicians performing back to back at Littlefield, Brooklyn. Bitchcraft at Union Hall, is a long-running witchy-esque variety show hosted by Selena Coppock and Lauren Maul.

On Saturday, back at The Unicorn, an all-afternoon brunch show, “20 Titillating Minutes,” offers long sets by performers over a pancake breakfast ($10 includes pancakes) followed by an industry panel. The evening wraps with A Night of Dirty Songs, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, helmed by Jessica Delfino (fest founder) and her world-celebrated “Dirty Folk Rock.”

LOCKED UP B*TCHES is a riotous, raunchy hip-hop/sketch musical comedy, loosely based on of our favorite women's prison saga currently streaming on a Netflix account near you. Set in B#tchfield Animal Shelter, the show chronicles the ultimate war between felines and canines, the b’s and p’s, as they rap their paws off and fight to the death. Book and Lyrics by Catya McMullen: AKA MC Chihuahua Fancy (EST Youngblood/WE ARE ANIMALS), directed by Michael Raine (The Flea, Yale Rep) and music direction by Scott Klopfenstein (Reel Big Fish). This musical is dirty, hilarious celebration of the value of community and finding yourself in a messed up world. Oh and humping. It's also about humping.

The only thing missing from OITNB was show tunes, so this show should kill!
