Ok but like, what if the ED sequence is actually the ending of this particular series? Picture this; dust settles on whatever the final battle ends up becoming, both Machu and Nyaan are nowhere to be found after the chaos, both considered KIA. Flash forward, they really managed to just nope the fuck out and make it to Earth and share a cozy little apartment with the kids (Haro and Conch) and Shuji if we're very very lucky.

Okay theorytime, im going out there

Nyaan represents safe and down to earth, while Shuji is strange and exciting. Classic love triangle setup, and the fact that both the outro and intro focus on Amate and Nyaan *and* now Shiiko getting herself killed pursuing a doomed goal while leaving her safe and happy life behind

I think this will end with Shuji getting himself killed pursuing his and the gundam's goal, leaving Machu behind to see the condequences of living like that, and ultimately end up with Nyaan as seen in the outro
