Heard you were open for headcannons. I looked up the bubonic plague, and it tends to be spread through fleas and the body fluids of infected dead animals. HOWEVER, you know how there are a bunch of dead people/spirits representing the deadlier sins? Maybe Dr. White died of plague a long, long time ago and was brought back to be one of them. Not that he realizes he died, despite the black fingers and spots all over. He doesn't feel sick, so it's fine... Right? (It's a long headcannon. Whoops.)
