I have a question! * u *; I'm new when it comes to Otoge and never got the chance to play one. The only company I know of that offers Otoge is Aksys. Are there any others? Does anyone think there is a possibility of UtaPri, Amnesia, or Diabolik Lovers being released outside Japan?
Do you mean otome games in English or Japanese otome games translated into English?
If it’s the first, there aren’t any BIG companies, but there are indie developers that produce OELVNs, like Winter Wolves, Hanako Games, Zeiva Inc, Sakevisual. There are a few others that operate on a smaller scale (sometimes free), and they can be found here.
For Japanese translated games, there’s both Voltage Inc and Solmare for smart phones, and the only games that have English patches (fan translated) are Starry Sky in Spring (Honeybee) , Girlish Love Revolution (HuneX (you have to use the Korean version though)), The Second Reproduction (HeteroDoxy (now defunct)) and Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side: 1st Love and Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side: 2nd Kiss (both by Konami).
Hakuouki and the upcoming game Sweet Fuse (Aksys) , Hatoful Boyfriend (a doujin game by Moa), and Yo-Jin-Bo (Two-Five) are the only officially translated otome games.
Oh and there’s also Cheritz, a Korean company that translated Dandelion~Wishes Brought to You and the upcoming game Nameless.
As for the possibility of more translated games like the ones you mentioned, I honestly don’t know. I do know people have been requesting those games to be translated by other companies like Aksys, but there are a lot of factors that play into it. One of them is the popularity of the PSP in the west falling, which was actually mentioned in a interview with Aksys, and all those games are PSP games. UtaPri I would think would have a lot of support as there is a huge fandom base, with the two anime seasons and what, seven released games? But I feel like there would be a few problems with that too. Amnesia, I don’t know, though there is the anime as well, and Diabolik Lovers? Another anime coming out later this year, but I feel like the themes are too dark for a company to attempt to bring it overseas haha.
Then again, I’m not too familiar with how the industry works, so take my opinions with a grain of salt.
Hopefully I answered at least one question!
