tips for portfolios for undergrad admissions in fine art universities in the states please?

Make sure you carefully read any requirements for your portfolio - Depending on what you’re going into, your portfolio may require various mediums and subject matters in various sizes. You don’t want to accidentally miss this and be denied for a silly reason like that

Look at example portfolios - Some schools will post example portfolios online and this can be a great help to figure out what kind of things you should include 

Know your strengths but don’t just show your strengths - If you’re really good at graphite portraits, don’t just submit graphite portraits. You need to show some kind of variety in your art and if you only submit one type of work, that shows no variety or experience in other areas of art

i don’t know if i have one big, sexual fetish, but i have these tiny things that turn me on. cutesy brawls that end with kisses. knee socks. art galleries (lmao not sorry)

anomaly - what do you find unique about yourself?

i’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and i’m not really sure (more in the context of our collective inability of original thought, but i’m sure it applies here too). i think what i find unique is me, as a collection of accumulated things, in this pattern of sorts that no one else is. sure, people have blue hair and septum piercings and doodles on their arms, 24 inch waists and affinities for noodles, but not all at once. that’s just me. 

tinderbox - what do you cherish most?

my polaroids. if my room set on fire i’d bring them with me.

angelhood - what is one of your favorite memories?

this one night just a while ago and friend and i were on a hilltop, drunk out of our minds, gazing at the stars. i’d just got laid and we were smoking and writing poetry on her phone, and i took so many pictures, and i’m so glad because i hardly remember it- i just remember staring at my boots and the constellations and listening to toothpaste kisses. it was beautiful. 

tiger - what is your bravest memory?

this one other night, in a moment of courage (read: sheer idiocy) i climbed this thing called internet tower. one of my second years and i just started to climb, until we overshot the top, then came back to the highest place we could sit and stared down, at how tiny and insignificant everything was. a few weeks later i saw the tower from my room and literally yelled what the fuck because fun fact it’s fucking massive and i could have died 8 times over and i would never do it again but i’d never undo it, not in a million years.
