Hello! Can you please please please give your take on the nyotalia names for the Asian cast?
Of course🩵🩵
(~ These names are based off my personal preferences. But if I got some info wrong, please do correct mee. Credits to Hima)
China: Wang Chun-yan (Western style: Wang Chun-yan)
Chinese: spring; simple; clean (Chun) + beautiful; swallow (Yan)
Very agreed upon across the fandomm
I like it tooo
Japan: Honda Sakura (Western order: Sakura Honda)
Japanese: cherry blossom
Again, very much aligned with the fandommm
Idk if this has been said beforee but I'm in love with how Sakura parallels Kiku which means 'Chrysanthemum'
Flower duo🥹🥹
Korea: Im Chae-yi (Western order: Chae-yi Im)
Korean: colorful (Chae) + harmony (Yi)
It's such a cute name don't you thinkk
Taiwan: Lin Junjie (Western order: Junjie Lin)
Chinese: outstanding talent/ talented; handsome (Jun) + handsome (Jie)
It's a common name in Taiwan as far as I have read:))
I FEEL LIKE IT SUITS HIM
Hong Kong: Wong Rhea (Western order: Rhea Wong)
Greek: flowing; fertility
I wanted a name that's short but gives off 'cool energy' iykyk
'Rhea' kind of gives chic and street-style feel
Macau: Chan Adelina (Western order: Adelina Chan)
Portuguese: noble (it also means the same in various languages like Spanish and Italian)
I read that in Macau some name their kids in Portuguese names, so I kind of based it off of that-
And the fact that this one means 'noble' is giving a sophisticated aurahwiahs
Vietnam: Nguyen Quang Minh (Western order: Minh Quang Nguyen)
Vietnamese: bright; intelligent (Minh), pure; light (Quang)
He's giving me serious and organized first impression vibes
Philippines: Beatrice Cordero
Latin: 'she who brings joy'; blessed one
MOST DEFINITELY goes by 'Bea' 99% of the time (probs first got called like that during American period and rolled with it)
Thinks 'Beatrice' is too formal🙃
Indonesia: Melati Saraswati
Sanskrit: jasmine flower
I thought it'd be cute if she was named after the national flower of Indonesia
At first I was supposed to pair it with her male counterpart's surname 'Setiawan' but it turns out that's a more masculine leaning surnamee. So I chose Saraswati (Sanskrit: flow of water) insteadd
Malaysia: Samirah Tan
Arabic: entertaining companion; evening conversationalist
I thought she'd be a fun person to talk to:)
Her friends calls her 'Sam'
Singapore: Aliyah Tan
Hebrew: rising; ascending
The og name was 'Scarlet' (French: red) then became 'Sienna' (French: reddish-brown)
((You could say I like red on her))
I just reallyy want to parallel her name with 'Samirah' (like what I did with Adrian and Aidan) but the S names I found didn't match her energy. So I decided to make their names rhyme instead
Thailand: Chantana Anantasuk
Thai: thoughtful
Her name is so pretty
THE CHANGE OF SURNAME IS AN APOLOGY😭🙏
Just read that Ananda (Sanskrit: bliss) was more of a given name rather than a surname in Thailand😭😭. And I literally wrote 'Ekkarat Ananda' in my earlier post as Thailand's human name- to make up for that I replaced it with 'Anantasuk' (Thai: infinite happiness) 🥹
India: Ruhi Rai
Sanskrit: soulful; spiritual
I looove alliterated names
Alsoo since her male counterpart's described to have a like a prince-y aura I gave her the surname Rai (king;noble)
AAAND THAT'S ALL FOR TODAYY, MISSED YA'LL
