Soulmate trope, But its government assigned soulmates.

This is such an interesting idea! I can see it working similarly to an arranged marriage au but just in a normal everyday world which is kind of a super fun concept now that I think about it.

Like would they be assigned soulmates at birth and you’re just not allowed to be with anyone else until you marry your soulmate or do you just get one person assigned to you for your entire life?

And like is there courting first? Like a typical arranged marriage but it’s like awkward teenage government assigned dates anajnsjkns

Also, do soulmates automatically fall in love? Or are you just kinda forced into a marriage with a random person? because I think that has the potential to be so delicious (like personally, rather than arranged marriage aus, I prefer forbidden love outside of an arranged marriage)
