My NYU Community: Clara
While everyone comes from a variety of majors and disciplines, we all share a deep love for creating and a curiosity for learning about digital art. Sometimes it's hard to find a place where you fit in, but it really is just about trying new experiences and making time to build connections with those people you click with. It's a scary thing to do, but it's important to self-initiate the process in order to learn and grow.
When I first transferred to NYU, it was daunting because I didn't know many people in my own year. I figured since I was starting from scratch, I might as well try a bunch of new things. I often tried to attend events related to my interests and just introduce myself to new people. It helped that my classmates would sometimes be at those events or in those clubs, particularly with the Digital Arts Club.
DAC, or the Digital Arts Club, was a club I had found through surfing Facebook and the club listing on the NYU website. As I followed their online presence, it wasn't until I found out a classmate in my East Asian Studies class mentioned she was on the eboard, that I finally decided to go.
Since joining, I've become good friends with the eboard and found myself amongst people who inspire me greatly.
