chapter two: a conversation, a report, and an offer

"I- hello," Sneeg stammers. "I didn't realize there was someone else who could get in here now."

"Yeah, hi, I'm new," the stranger laughs, cheeks turning the same color of the stone around her like some strange sort of self-conscious blush. "I'm Bekyamon, but you can call me Bek, I'm- you're Sneeg, right?"

"That I am."

"Sneegsnag, the Crowfather's right-hand man?" Bek says, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

With a puffed chest, Sneeg finally manages a genuine, prideful smile. "You've heard of me."

"I have, I have! It's great to finally meet you, Sneeg." The smile on Bek's face fades as she comes to a stop. "But- but I'm afraid I'm not here just for pleasantries. Have you- you haven't seen Phil recently, have you?"

Sneeg shakes his head. "No, I was just talking to Tommy about that, and he was acting really weird about it. I'm starting to think that something suspicious might be happening around here."
