“Is it nerve wracking to be a soloist on a tour like this? You have to perform in front of huge crowds on your own, in a place you don’t know. I’d be so much more nervous if I didn’t have the girls with me up there.”

"If this was us meeting for the first time, I'd do it all again. Everything. The fucks, the fuck ups, everything." Dylan and Lucy
Lucy fell silent at Dylan’s admission, the capacity for verbal exchange escaping her — a rarity for such a perpetual chatterbox. Any words she might’ve slipped out would’ve been inaudible beneath the sharp crack of her heart that rang heavily in her ears. God, she wasn’t supposed to fall in love with him. They were supposed to be best friends, they were supposed to eat pizza and watch football games and argue over what to play on the radio. The love that had developed between the two of them was so natural, she hadn’t even noticed it until everyone else began pointing it out; she wore the affection for him like a perfect coat of adoration. And, of course, everything had to fall apart.
“I’ll be back before you know it,” was all Lucy could whimper out, though her hands still intertwined with his. Daniel was supposed to drop her off the airport… as always, he was busy, couldn’t make it, all the manufactured excuses. And, as always, Dylan was there to pick up the pieces. Because he always was. The brunette’s arms wrapped tightly around him, burying her face into the curve of his neck, shattered heart thudding manically within the confines of her rattled cage. Pink lips moved close to Dylan’s ear and she murmured, “I’ll always love you most.”

"W-what? Dylan…,” Lucy’s eyes mournfully scanned over Dylan’s features, focusing heavily on the droplets of rain that slithered down his face and arms, drenching his skin. For a moment, she just stared at him, the words they’d exchanged the night before tumbling through her thoughts, punctuated by the complex emotions that followed accompanied them. Before she could even allow herself to consider what to do next, her boyfriend called from the living room, “Luce? Who is it?”
"It’s just—- the neighbor," she lied, unsure of why she had even bothered with it. Her boyfriend knew Dylan, knew that he was her best friend, wouldn’t care at all if Lucy had invited him in. But the precarious situation they had found themselves in tugged sharply at her heart as she stepped outside, shutting the door behind her. "Hey," the brunette finally mumbled quietly as they found their own source of privacy amidst the storm that blanketed over them. "I don’t think I can stay here any longer. Do you wanna… go for a ride? Just anywhere. Let’s go anywhere. I think… I think we have a lot to talk about."
