I generally take really pretty pictures of our hikes and they end up looking like we just drifted through to this beautiful view. In reality, we get hurt. A lot. While yesterday wasn’t nearly as bad as the last ridge line we did. I got to play “dirt or bruise” in the shower. The first picture is a whoppper. It hurts, bad and I’ll probably have it for days. I don’t know which fall it happened on (because there were SO MANY falls) but it is there. I got splinters, cuts, sore joints, messed up feet from being soak in mud for 6 hours, and an overall ache that will probably be gone in a week. Some hikes here are leisurely and not super tough. You may just break a sweat and step in a few puddles. Recently, we have been opting out of those for harder ones, ones that leave you bruised, and ones that leave you sore. My Fitbit said 11+miles and our elevation was around 3500. It took around 6 hours, I’ll have dirt under my nails for days, and I got hangry, but I wouldn’t change who I got to hike with or the hike for the world. #oahu #hiker #oahutrails #hawaii #injuries
