Happy Birthday @barackobama Just found this portrait during an archive dive. I remember his inauguration - it was one of the coldest days I had ever experienced in DC. @bonetiredmama and I were camped in front of the Washington Monument covering the event. After a frigid afternoon we fled back home and Mateo was born 9 months later! 🤷🏼 #obamababy It was exciting to raise our kids in that era. There was this idea of hope. That we had turned the corner on the Bush policies of the Iraq war, that the financial crisis would turn around, that things would change for the better. And… well here we are now. I still have hope for the future though. We both do. We have to.
