If you give a man a television, he will never do anything productive on his life again. But if you teach a man to television then he will.... Ummm... He'll do something someday maybe
Probably Michelle Obama
OBAMAMAMACARE

Hey, you sickly (albeit lovely and very appreciated!) readers, the Affordable Care Act—AKA Obamacare/Universal Healthcare/The Bane of Bill O’Reilly’s Contemptuous Existence—is upon us! Even though the government almost crumbled over this not-so-little bill, everyday folk still don’t know much at all about it. NO LONGER!
Today marks the beginning of a new age: one where you don’t have to live cautiously in fear of monstrous hospital bills. With preventative care, you can live crazy again! Life will be easy in this new age, but what’s not that easy is understanding the damn thing.
That’s why I’m here to wake your asses up and get you healthy! The first open enrollment period of Obamacare starts now, even though the ACA doesn’t fully go into effect ‘til January 2014. (The early drunk gets the drunkest, right?) So if you don’t have health insurance, enroll A$AP! Here are the quick facts (try to keep up):
Covered California (CC) is the state’s private implementation of the ACA; it’s is essentially a marketplace where average blowjobs like yourself can shop for health insurance, just like you would plane flights or Martian prostitutes!
Every beautifully fragile person in this country is eligible! (With exception of the undocumented, incarcerated, and muggled, of course.)
Private insurance companies like Kaiser, Sharp, Blue Shield, and the nine others chosen by CC are required to do the following: offer coverage to people factoring only age, zip code, and income (no more bullshit about pre-existing conditions or gender keeping folks from getting insured); cover ten essential benefits (e.g. ambulatory care, pediatrics, prescriptions, preventative care etc.); and allow clients to go to the doctor as many times as they damn well please.
There are four metal tiers of insurance plans (bronze through platinum), each one a little cheaper than the next. Basically, if you get the cheapest plan (bronze), you pay less in premiums each month but much more out of pocket when you need the insurance. Conversely, the platinum plan is a lot more mula each month, but when you actually go to the doctor, it’s cheaper. Bottom line: if you don’t need the doctor much, get a low-tiered plan; if you do, fork over the extra cash for a higher one and save each time you need it.
Last point: if you don’t make a whole lot of money, good news! Anyone at 138-400% of the poverty level (roughly between fifteen and forty grand a year) qualifies for subsidies and tax credits. That means good ‘ol quazi-socialism kicks in, saving you money for pot (or whatever)!
So what are you waiting for? Go to CoveredCA.com right the fuck now and fill out their little calculator thing to see how much health insurance would cost you per month! It’ll probably surprise you. They have the application available on the site, so you don’t even have to get off the shitter to fill it out.
And if that’s not enough incentive, it’s also going to be ILLEGAL come January to be uninsured. The penalty’s one percent of your income or $95 for the year, whichever’s higher. It increases the next year, too. So you might as well (just sayin’).
“I think it’s important to recognize that you can’t have 100 percent security and also then have 100 percent privacy,” President Obama said in June.
politicians should spy on each other, they are the root of this whole mess. leave me alone!
I shouldn't find this funny.
