     A certain small pink hedgehog was currently sitting all by herself in the grass, playing around with a small flower in her hands. Once again, she had been left behind while Sonic and Tails ran off to go on some new adventure together. Left in their dust. Literally. Honestly, she was getting so sick and tired of this!

     Why couldn’t they just wait up and let her come along? She could be helpful too! Her hammer is pretty strong!! ...well, sometimes. And she knew how to protect herself so she wouldn’t be kidnapped!! ...kinda. That’s besides the point!

     It just didn’t make any sense to her. What was she doing wrong? Did they just not like her? No, of course they liked her! They were her friends! And Sonic loved her!! ...right..?

     “It’s not fair... I wanna come along too... Why is it always just me that gets left behind...?” She asked herself aloud, frowning at the little flower in her hands. She felt...frustrated, upset, angry. Hurt.

     “Hmph! Fine then! I don’t need any of them! I can go on adventures all by myself! Ya hear that!? I don’t need anyone to protect me anymore!!!” She yelled at the sky, releasing a huff of air as her cheeks puffed up slightly.

The sensation of something disturbing the wildlife....but he couldn’t sense what was causing it. It doesn’t take him long to realize it has to be one of Eggman’s robots. Probably one of the ones not powered by a mobini, so that quickly cuts down the list. No E-100s or normal Badniks. Egg-SWATS were too slow. Must be one of the Metal Series bots then. Jerard would hide in a bush and keep an eye out in the direction of the disturbance. He wasn’t about to let a clanker get the best of him.

His hands gripped his verpine sniper rifle, a trusty weapon even out here far from its point of origin. Unlike his other equipment, this wasn’t a blaster. It was ballistic, and it was deadly accurate. He had a lot of faith in Verpine tech. Unlike Geonosians, Verpine were actually quite agreeable insects. Shame he couldn’t introduce Tails to any of them.

Is it a plane? Is it a cloud? No, it's small Metal flying over Sonic's head and dumping a handful of mushed disgusting wet paper right onto his head and all over his quills! The robot stopped slightly away from the hedgehog to quietly gloat to his robotic heart's content. (obedient-silence)

More than anything this startled Sonic. His body jolted at the sensation of something hitting him, AND that something having the exact texture of mushy wet paper. Which was exactly what it was.

“EUGH-” was his only verbal response as the whipped the paper off his head, before glaring in the robot’s direction. Sonic wasn’t in the mood for this. He didn’t have the energy for this.

At least based on how very... low key this ‘attack’ was, he gathered this Metal wasn’t dangerous. But that didn’t make Sonic any happier to see him. “How ‘bout ya go back to your own zone and bother your own Sonic?” he grumbled, followed by shaking his quills as the sensation of cold water still sunk into his fur.

Disgusting. Even if it WAS just water, which he had no way of knowing, he was going to have to shower now just to get rid of the feeling. Peachy.

The hedgehog eyed the robot with a sense of scrutinization, though this gaze soon evolved into a hateful glare. In all honesty, he hadn’t expected to run into this toaster today - admittedly he hadn’t seen the robot in a while... wouldn’t surprise him if Eggman had stashed the thing in a cupboard for the last couple months, but he was always so ridiculously fond of Metal. Kinda like how Tails was with his -

Sonic’s thought processes dived elsewhere, shoving the name someplace else before he furrowed his brow at the robot. The sight of Metal annoyed him, irritated him, if only because of the discussions he’d happened to overhear. Why would they need METAL if they had the REAL THING? It made absolutely no sense. No sense at all... very much like the slowly building rage in his system.

❝ Ya’ picked the wrong day to come out and play, Metal, ❞ he stated, tone of voice suddenly deadly. ❝ Why don’tcha just run along back to the dust bunnies before I make ya’ spare parts? ❞

The robot at the end of the hall had noticed her, she’s sure. It’s head had turned when she’d stopped near the start of the window. Maria wasn’t entirely sure how it had gotten onto the ARK, actually. She’s pretty sure the teleporter doesn’t work, but.. Maybe it only worked to get there?

The fox clears her throat, just incase it hadn’t noticed her, and speaks. 

“Who are you?”

“You.. You kind of look like the mural grandfather used as a basis to make Shadow. .. But a robot.”

Metal tilted his head at the scientist. He was building robots too. Was that the reason why this 'Wily' was so curious about him? ( obedient-silence )
