some of you guys have got to stop acting like "if you're a good person, then the objects in your possession will never wear out/get damaged/break". you have got to stop acting like "if you REALLY care for objects, then you would maintain them in the best shape possible".

stop expecting people to be devoted to the care of objects! stop associating morality to wear and breakage! i know that for some of you guys, objects breaking/degrading is extremely upsetting. i also grieve objects close to me like they are people! but if you treat people like actual murderers/abusers for being unable to properly care for objects, at best you're gonna hurt real people, at worst that's a wide opening for being manipulated by people who will use this morality against you. or you're gonna internalize it as a moral and personal failure when an object DOES break, and you're gonna hate yourself for being unable to stop other people from doing it.

there's this notion i've seen a couple times around objectum spaces, that people who prefer objects with anthropomorphic traits (such as "facial features" or humanoid bodies; an "anthro computer" vs. just a computer) are "cowards" or even lesser objectum, at worst not objectum at all.

it's not strange at all for people to like the idea of sentient objects that resemble humanoids or other species - these features are easier for many people to empathize with. if we get on the same page of being chill with this, we can better discuss why it's objects specifically that we're drawn to, find similarities with our experiences, and share art and media related to these interests. otherwise you're pushing out, say, people who have directly objectum experiences (e.g. object partners and crushes) but prefer to draw art of those objects anthropomorphized, and that's a really silly thing to get on other people about.

if you're okay with objectums with preferences for statues or mannequins or plushies, why is it different when it's robots or anthropomorphic versions of other objects?

(aside: i understand some people in this community get a bit annoyed when many people can only appreciate object characters when they are humanized/gijinka (e.g. wheatley). i still think that rejecting people from the community for preferring objects with anthropomorphic features is unhelpful at best and frequently very alienating.)

my friend was wondering - is there a term for an object that someone feels a particular objectum/posic connection to that is not inherently positive? (i.e. experiencing object sentience/consciousness, communicating with objects, having a social connection with an object.)

i have heard the terms "object partner", "object companion", and "beloved object" before, but these terms may imply a level of commitment/closeness/positive attachment. there is no term i know of that also encompasses relationships with objects that may be neutral/negative/more complex than just love/friendship.

the term that my friend has been working with so far has been "empathetic object"; we would like to hear the community's thoughts.

"human-looking objects" actually intrigue me a lot... a lot of people say that you might as well be bonding with an actual human at that point. but i disagree. plastic, wood, metal, these things have a different tactility than human skin. the histories of a mannequin, a puppet, an android, is far different from a human.
