Term is in full swing; the object plays
So lots of reading and homework assignments going on for me, a lot of stuff (in addition to the show I'm putting on/other stuff) but it's manageable (overwhelming sometimes but I"m doing better than last term). This is why I've not been as active lately.
On a more-fun note, this weekend I'm in what are called the Object Plays. Now that I think about it, the fall-term equivalent of these plays, the 24 hour plays was the subject of my very first (or close to very first) post here on tumblr! (Both the Object Plays and the 24 Hour Plays are done in 24 hours, but in the fall the plays are written in the first 12 hours, whereas the plays are written over our internship term for the Object Plays, and the Object Plays are all written on a theme, where the 24 hour plays are written with an object and a suggested line of dialogue in them). The theme for the Object Plays this term is the "beach", so they're all the "beach plays". Participating in these plays is determined by lot... you put your name into two different participation categories (Directing, Stage Manager/Producer, Male Actor, Female Actor, Costume Design, Set Design, and for the fall plays, Playwright) and then at Drama Forum, names are drawn from the submissions to participate.
Not many of you were followers back in September, but I was an actor for the fall plays, which was fun but intense. For the Object Plays, I was drawn as set designer, and as there are four plays and two set designers, I'm designing the sets for two plays. They're both hilarious as fuck and amazing plays though. And the actors (randomly drawn for each play) all fit the roles they were given in their plays perfectly (so it's going to be great!). I'm excited, and have some set design ideas going on, as well as directorial/playwright input on suggestions/themes throughout the play for the set. It'll be crazy, but I can't wait. I want to try my hardest to be able to participate in the plays EVERY term... they're just something I enjoy doing!
