Turnabout Schoolhouse
((Closed starter for @the-defense-rises))
Miles hadn’t thought he’d come back to this old building. No particular reason, but he had no need to return to his old school upon moving to Germany, even after his return to Los Angeles. However, he had no reason to turn down the case he was assigned, he hadn’t given much thought until he pulled up to his old school.
Though his expressions concealed his emotions quite well, he couldn’t help but succumb to the wave of nostalgia as he walked down the halls. Although the paint looked relatively new, the floors still had those same scuffs and cracks he’d almost forgotten about. As students came and went with the years, the building remained unchanging.
Of course, he knew his positive feelings wouldn’t stay for too long. The scene of the crime was nonother than his old classroom. A suspect had already been arrested, and although Edgeworth didn’t like the idea that Ms. Taykin was charged with murder, it was easy to see why. All the evidence pointed to her and her alone. To think his old teacher was now a murderer... He wanted to believe it was an accident, but the cause of death was asphyxiation, if the autopsy report was accurate. It could only have been intentional.
Normally, Miles was unaffected by a crime scene, but the familiarity of the location and those involved struck differently with him. The moment he’d gathered the info and evidence he needed, he’d quickly leave the classroom. Rather, he would have, had he not bumped into a certain defense attorney as he stepped through the doorway. Something else he certainly wasn’t expecting. “Wright?” Of all people, "you’re defending Ms. Taykin?”
