i just think if obikakarin all lived it would be so extremely funny if they got together. deeply dysfunctional ass relationship i cannot image how they got together in the first place but say they did:

you have rin whose comhet crush is now her partner n also her lifelong bestie who only talked abt her like she was an object when they thought he was dying. they're the same person in some ways yet he's the most oblivious to who she actually is. not that she lets him see her. so yk. she's keeping them both at arms distance while pretending to care and be close. typical rin suffering shenanigans but with a new layer of awful until she realizes she can keep treating them mostly like before. which helps some but not all.

and then kakashi's got a shitton of selfworth issues and rationalizes this move as being their emergency contact. bc he's at least emotionally intelligent to admit that he cares. abt them. as teammates ofc. this has nothing to do w nightmares of obito almost dying under a boulder and rin throwing herself through his chidori, almost piercing her heart what are you talking about. despite his dependency on them, there are times where he can't bear to be around them for too long either. it's awful. he still feels like they're more ghosts than living people sometimes for all that rin's mild care is suffocating and obito's loud voice is grating on his ears.

obito might be the only one having a good time? but he's super repressed about his feelings for kakashi and so over the top about rin and has no idea she hates his guts and kakashi feels the sting of rejection whenever he pulls away from being sincere. he's what keeps the three of them together and what hurts them the most.

ykw he's having too much of a good time. i guess he still killed minato and kushina but had a bit of a crisis when rin woke up and continued being a good konoha solider n in typical fashion assumed this meant being a loyal shinobi = good and never tells her about the shit he was up to and returns to konoha. spends a good while in T&I but genjutsu's most of his memories away and now has self-worth issues about 'deserving' her and can't trust his half remembered past.

I lovveee when characters are Unwell(tm) about each other and to me, obkkrn is prime "oh they're all unwell about all of each other in vastly unique ways that play into each other's unwellness to terrifying degrees" real estate. They were put on this earth to stand in as eachother's idols of worship and to make each other so much worse <33

I love their dynamic so much tbh, it was made specifically to delight me lowkey. I'm always a huge fan of both "oh that guy isn't right in the head" characters and also toxic codependency characters and also just generally characters Being Weird(tm) about other characters. I look at obkkrn and see traces of all of these things but I am here to dial the crank up to 11 via taking Obito off his meds and setting Rin loose from her play pen
