Weekly Review
For this week’s review, I decided I would review the build-up to season six of Teen Wolf.
The producers and team of Teen Wolf truly did a great job with the build-up to season six of the highly rated television series. From the cliffhanger of season five “b” to the little tidbits of information from season six throughout the few gap months, the Teen Wolf team did an excellent job setting up what seems to be a great start to the season.
Starting off in season five “b,” the directors made it clear about what kind of hype they wanted for the next season as they left a huge hook during the finale. From the desert wolf, to the beast, to the hellhound, to Theo’s new found powers, to Sebastian, to Deucalion’s working partners, to Kira’s return, and finally to the Nazi werewolf’s potential escape, viewers had much to look forward to regarding the next season.
But, the Teen Wolf cast wanted more interest from their audience, so teasers were dropped here and there from interview to interview all the way until the season six premiere.
One specific teaser that the viewers seemed to go crazy about was the possibility of a romance between Stiles and Lydia! Much of the audience wanted their relationship to spark since season one, so teasing about this was a great way to add to their desire to watch this television show.
Two cast members in specific teased about this relationship; Dylan O’Brien and Holland Roden. Since these actors are the two involved in the romance, it was very important for them to have done this as viewers who admire them, apart or together, will become even more captivated in the show.
Some teasers dropped by Dylan O’Brien and Holland Roden include, “He’ll always love Lydia. I mean, she’s, she’s like his love,” stated by Dylan O’Brien during an interview and, “Jeff [the Teen Wolf writer] told me that Scott is going into the season single, and therefore the central relationship is turned focus towards Lydia and another particular person and that would of course be Stiles…I think Stydia fans will be pleased,” stated by Holland Roden in a different interview.
Therefore, a lot of teasers have been dropped about a new relationship budding in season six which increases the audience’s attention in the show.
Not to mention this is the last season of Teen Wolf that will ever be filmed, so making the audience content during the last season is a smart strategy. In other words, starting a relationship between Stiles Stilinski and Lydia Martin is a very smart way to end off a series to ensure that viewers will not rave against the producers and other important team members. If the whole audience left the series on a bad note, they can very much affect future opportunities and work for the Teen Wolf team as the film industry is already as competitive as it is and negative reviews will very much set back their team overall.
In conclusion, Teen Wolf did an amazing job catching their audience’s attention before the premiere of season six. From the cliffhangers left in season five to the #stydia debut, viewers will never want to stop watching Teen Wolf.
Plotline Review
This week I decided to review the plotline of Teen Wolf. This is a shorter review, but still conveys my ideas about the plotline.
Personally, I continue to be intrigued throughout every season of Teen Wolf, so I would say that the plotline is planned out and written very well.
Although it seems to be repetitive when reviewing the plot, each episode has something different about it. This is what makes the award winning television show so captivating.
For example, the episodes in season one focus on Scott figuring out his abilities and learning how to control them. Then, in season two, the show focuses on a creature called a Kanima and on Scott building his pack.
Throughout every season, there is something different to focus on and something for the audience to make predictions about.
But, something that is focused on during every season is the character development. Teen Wolf does a great job at developing characters as they use the past events from the show to help grow the characters. Each main character overcomes something every season whether it be another creature or their own attributes.
An example of this is Scott Mccall. His character development is very strong throughout the seasons. Like, in season one, he does not know how to control his power and struggles with it. But, he soon learns to control it which helps build his character. He not only knows how to control his power, but himself as well because of the experiences thrown at him during season one.
Of more, Teen Wolf introduces new characters at all the right times. When one character leaves the show or even dies, another one is introduced soon after their disappearance. And when there is not enough conflict between characters, a new supernatural being is created.
This is another factor that helps intrigue the audience and enforces their want to watch more episodes.
In conclusion, Teen Wolf has a great plotline that is interesting and that keeps the audience captivated. It uses differences, character development and new aspects to create a truly exciting television program.
Character Review
I am going to be doing weekly reviews from now on, so this week I decided that I would be doing a character review.
The characters in Teen Wolf are all unique in their own ways, but overall could be better. They all have special qualities, but in general are just stereotypical teenagers.
I’ll begin with Scott Mccall. He discovers his werewolf abilities early in the series, and becomes an alpha quite quickly. His traits are unique in this way, as he is part of the supernatural. But, when he’s a normal teenager, he is not that different after all. He seems to care about his grades and girls, just like an average teenage boy would do.
Stiles Stilinski is not all that different either. He does not have any supernatural powers, and acts like a regular teenage guy. He does not like school, but he does like girls and he has a best friend who he spends all of his time with. The only defining trait about Stiles is that he knows about the supernatural, unlike other teenagers in the show and the real world.
Lydia Martin would have to be the most different out of the three main characters. She is a banshee, so she hears the voices of dead or almost dead people. Her shriek can kill others, so I would say that this is a very distinguishing characteristic. She has other characteristics like this as well. She goes to school like a normal teenage girl, but she carries a different aspect about her. She seems more unsteady than your typical popular teenage girl. Therefore, she is a pretty unique character.
Overall, the characters in Teen Wolf each have something that makes them unique, but they aren’t completely different when it comes to their lives without the supernatural. With that being said, the characters in Teen Wolf could have been thought and planned out a bit better, but are still successful when it comes to captivation and their reason of being.
Season 5x16
This episode was seriously life changing.
I’ve loved the thought of Stydia being together since day 1 and so when Stiles saved Lydia from the Eichen House, my heart exploded. He went into a boat load of planning to successfully get the girl he loves out of there.
He risked his life by using every single Supernatural ressource that he could in order to carry through his plan. Therefore, when Stiles knocked down the door to get to Lydia and to eventually get her out of the mental hospital, I went crazy.
It might partially be because Dylan O’Brien plays Stiles and he’s the prettiest person in existence, but either way I was extremely happy with the outcome of the well-thought out episode.
