Hunter X Hunter||Chrollo Lucilfer X Reader||Collector's Vault
when Darkness is so addicting it no longer gets reasoned with anymore.
The irony was almost laughable, to Chrollo it was an intoxicating peice of art, he wanted to add to his collection like the hundreds of nen, curses he had stored in his book but this might just have been his favorite.
The auctions, Chrollo had gone to several of them in the past year searching aisles and trailing Intel and faint rumours which should've meant nothing to him, but he wasn't here to collect anything yet, the whispers around Yorknew city could be interpreted as Gibberish or a gem based on who sought after it and Chrollo was no fool.
Chrollo had been in search of a rumored rare book, left by an Alchemist the last of his kind. Alchemy induced nen was incredibly rare, some believed it was a myth now locked in the innocent pages of a children's book. It could've been passed as an after thought and he could've focused on the next plans to infiltrate tonight's auction. The Nostrad family's eyes on the Kurta eyes in the morbid glasses displayed what a fascinating hobby it was collecting human body parts. But, it didn't compare even half to what he felt right now staring at the slip of paper both sin and his greatest undoing.
"The Alchemist's Reverie" was a book now translated to a children's fairytale book, but it wasn't the pretty stories of valor, courage which inspired hope among tiny children who peeked underneath their blankets waiting for there trusted guardian to whisper stories to them before bed. If it was a story like that it would've been well talked about.
But, the book was a ghost waltzing through politics, and corruption that clung to it like second skin. A book with enough knowledge to make Seasoned Manipulators and Conjurers salivate with greed, greed for the unknown and knowledge.
Yet, the irony never seemed greater than what he was seeing today the obsidian like black hardcover with a single gold satin ribbon to mark the page, with little gold embroidery snapped to tiny leaves along the cover page. Promising all magic.
Until it wasn't, the whole book had been written in the form of a story to lull children to sleep but in it was embedded textures od nen's greatest undoing, curses, nullification, and Alchemy ofcourse.
All this vast library of knowledge, belonged to you.
An unassuming, college going woman whose concerns happened to be regulating and turning in assignments when burnt out, chasing sleep like your getting paid for it, having vedio chats with friends or spending hours tucked inside the library that day he saw you.
Scheming through for a dictionary, it was pushed behind several other books no one had come to this part of the library and even if they had they couldn't have stumbled on that library it was a book about Nen ofcourse it was, the dictionary to was a rare first editon one so highly valued in the black market.
What a pretty little thing you were, that the most rare items had to fall into your hands that now you've gotten yourself tangled into a world, following scraps of information, collecting information that doesn't belong to you?
Does a pretty little thing like you even understand what your doing? What you have in your hands right now? How many would be willing to take your life in seconds for your possessions?
Chrollo hadn't had such an entertaining page in a long time, someone so sweet like you just uncovering your hidden darkness, slowly sinking into the abyss, and he wanted to see how you'd fall, maybe he'll even be there to catch you when you fall hard enough.
What a sweet little thing you were, you might have just become something Chrollo Lucilfer now wants to collect as well.
