Cupid Part 1
Imagine in TWD universe Cupid is real, just too tiny to see so no one knows he exists. He only comes around halfway through January through the 14th of February. He shoots who he wants together, and it usually works, but when he shoots a person already in love, nothing happens except they suffer side effects of the tiny arrow. Including: extra affection, staring, racing heart, lust, jealousy. Imagine Daryl being this person.
Warnings: NSFW, fluff
For February, you were pretty damn hot. Then again, running for three and a half miles to get away from a herde since the truck broke down tends to cause that feeling even during the winter.
You and the other two people who joined you on the run, Daryl and Spencer, stopped to take a breath once you were sure you could no longer hear the walkers. You bent down, hands on your scraped up knees, coughing up a lung and feeling like your heart would jump out of your chest. Running was not your favorite thing, but it was definitely a necessity to survival.
"You okay?"Daryl's gruff voice asked after a minute.
You looked up at him, still bent down, chest heaving. "I'm.... Good. You?"you breathed. He nodded, so you turned to Spencer. "What 'bout you?"
Spencer smiled, but it was halfhearted. "Alive."
You chuckled.
Daryl's jaw tightened as he looked away. Truth be told he was head over heels in love with you, ever since the farm. Your sweet nature, combined with your smartass mouth and stubborn attitude stole his heart way before he realized what was happening. But Carol definitely took notice. She would grin at him every time he would stare at you, and would tell him to man up and tell you, but he didn't have enough courage yet. He was afraid you wouldn't want a redneck like him. But seeing as friendly as you were with both him and his asshole brother Merle, it seemed you didn't care they were rednecks at all. You just enjoyed their presence, and that made him fall harder for you.
So when he would watch you and Spencer talk and laugh about stuff, he couldn't help the growing jealousy in his chest. Spencer wasn't a redneck, he was attractive, and it seemed like you liked him. So why would you want Daryl? He scoffed to himself, trying to shake away the negative thoughts to no avail. But the only thing that got them away was hearing your beautiful laugh, which made him blush a little, then scoff again.
He adjusted his crossbow on his back and started walking again, taking the lead so you couldn't see his red face, even if it was completely possible to be red from running. He didn't want to chance you figuring it out.
"Guess that's our cue,"you told Spencer, so you two jogged to keep up.
Back in Alexandria, you dropped off what little you found and started to head back to your house you shared with Daryl, which was what always made your heart beat quicken even after how long you've been here.
Unbeknownst to Daryl, you were crazy for him too. He drove you wild with his cerulean blue eyes, his husky voice and muscular arms. You would sometimes watch him as he worked on his bike, arms flexing, sweat pouring down his face. It made you hot to no end.
You sighed. Too bad he couldn't care less about me, you thought as you rushed upstairs to your room to shower.
Once you were done, you wrapped a towel around yourself and went to pick out clothes for dinner. Normally after a shower you'd just throw on pajamas , but since Rick and Michonne were having a small get together for dinner for Valentine's Day coming up, you wanted to be presentable.
Valentine's Day, you thought with a chuckle. Who knew before living here what the date was or who cared. But as you looked at the calendar given to you by Deanna, it was apparently February the 9th, which slightly made you nervous.
You heard rumors as a young girl that Cupid existed but he was either invisible or too tiny to see. He would go around and shoot people during this time of the year, trying to match people up. But you knew that was ridiculous, so you just shook your head, though a small voice in your head hoped Daryl would suddenly get shot by the tiny archer.
Ironic. The archer getting shot by an archer.
You grinned to yourself before finally picking out a pretty blue top and nice pants, along with your favorite sweater poncho.
After getting dressed, you blow dried your hair and threw it up in a ponytail before slipping the poncho on. You sighed in relief, loving the feeling of the comfy poncho.
You slipped into nice boots and checked yourself in the mirror. Good enough.
A knock on your door alerted you suddenly.
"Y/N? Wanna walk to Rick's with me?"Daryl called from the other side of the door.
You smiled to yourself. Fuck yes. "Yes, hold on!"
You turned to look for your perfume bottle and sprayed yourself a couple times before breathing in and out a few times. Then you went for the necklace Daryl had brought you a long time ago and were attempting to put it on when the door opened.
"Was making sure you were okay. Need help?"he asked shyly as your fingers had trouble getting it to clasp.
You smiled at him warmly, sending a jolt of electricity through him. "Yes please."
He walked over and grabbed the two ends while you held on to your ponytail. After a minute, he got it on and stepped back from you. Being so close made his heart beat very fast.
The he realized what necklace he helped you with and suddenly his heart was leaping out of his chest. The gorgeous opal necklace he found on a run, knowing your birthday was in early October. Ever since he brought it back you wore it every chance you could, except for dangerous runs it could get caught on. It made him extremely happy seeing that it seemed to be your favorite piece of jewelry.
You grinned at him, making him flush. "Ready?"you said as he nodded.
