Call Sign: King, Black Sky Ops Book 2 by Livia Grant.

The main characters are Khloe Monroe and Ryder Helms these characters were first introduced in Black Light: Rescue by Livia Grant. I don’t think one has to read Black Light: Rescue first, but it wouldn’t hurt.

I advise that one start with Call Sign: Thunder by Livia Grant, but I think one can read Call Sign: King first and still follow the story. If you want to get the most enjoyment though start with Black Light: Rescued and then read Call Sign: Thunder.

Khloe Monroe is a well known celebrity and she has lots of fans and is pretty much always in the tabloids. Ryder Helms is ex-CIA and is currently working for Black Sky Ops which is a fairly secret Black Ops group. Ryder has lots of enemies from his CIA days and he tries to keep a very low profile. However Khloe and Ryder are married and keeping a low profile for Ryder is not exactly easy.

The book pretty much starts with Khloe getting kidnapped and it goes from there as Ryder works on rescuing the love of his life. Rescuing Khloe is not easy and Ryder gets the help of his friends and coworkers from Black Sky Ops.

Call Sign: King is very fast paced and I read it in a few hours, I read some and then I went out to dinner and when I cam back I finished it. Call Sign: King has a lot action as you would expect and it has some scenes of torture or something sort of similar so be prepared.

I really enjoyed Call Sign: King and I only put it down once, it has a lot of action and I really loved the characters of Khloe and Ryder and I loved their supporting characters as well. I expect that we will get to read more about the other characters in future books, hopefully soon.

I think the ending was very good and there was an HEA with the main characters doing well I thought.

There are some nice smutty scenes to enjoy and there is quite a bit of violence and action. I thought it was well written and fast paced and it really held my attention.

I recommend reading Black Light: Rescued as well as the first Black Sky Ops book Call Sign: Thunder, strictly speaking this story is pretty stand alone, but I still recommend that you read these two books.

Throwing Fire Review:

This story has some triggers that might upset certain readers. Chiefly violence, torture and SA I think, so be warned this story is Dark to some degree. The story is fairly Dark, but so is the first book “Snowburn” though and you absolutely need to read “Snowburn” first in order to be able to properly follow the story in “Throwing Fire”

I read the first book “Snowburn a few years ago and I knew I had to reread it before reading “Throwing Fire” and I am glad I did. There is a lot of story content in Throwing Fire that I just wouldn’t have been able to follow very well if I hadn’t. I really enjoyed the book, because I really love Science Fiction and Romance. There is definitely Romance in this story along with the Science Fiction too, I would describe it as fairly smutty with several really fine scenes and a bit of butt stuff.

A set of random thoughts as I was reading:

The Characters of Hale and Kez fit together really well and their interaction is always very believable in the context of the story.

I loved the description of Hale’s clothes that were made by Kez.

In another scene Hale is talking to himself about how his little monster is chafed, ehh I can relate, lube is good for guys too. Lol Endurance is not just about being able to get hard it about the degree of chafing.

Hale gets a gift of cigars from Acker the Rat Guy and he really loved them, I can relate as I love Cigars. I can’t have any though or I will start smoking again, even though I quit about 20 years ago.

I don’t pay all that much attention to covers, but this cover for Throwing Fire, fits with the cover for Snow Burn really well. It has the same theme and style.

My conclusion: if you like Science Fiction Romance that is somewhat Dark then you will love this story. It has a tight storyline and I think the ending satisfies. The main Characters Hale and Kez are great and I also liked the secondary characters as well.

Midnight Fleur's Monsters

Midnight Fleur's Monsters by E.J. Frost My rating: 5 of 5 stars Ok this book is part of the Daddy P.I. World and it contains characters from the other book in the series. Most Importantly Midnight Fleur's Monsters follows Eight Out of Ten and should be read afterwards. Ehh at the end of this review I am going to include the books in the entire series. It is optional if you want to read them all, but I have and I do think it helps to understand the story better and I think it makes the story more enjoyable. if you know all of the characters. Anyway this is a BDSM book, and it is for mature readers. It is mostly set in a BDSM Club in NY called Blunts. The main characters are Fleur of course and Ten. Myles, and Cappa plus Krissy. They eventually form a polycule, because this is a why choose? Romance. There is some action and violence, but there is nothing extreme in my opinion. There is discussion of past trauma that has happened to the several of the characters, but nothing in the present. I didn't find anything to be triggering, but I am not easily triggered. I loved the smutty scenes, I loved the BDSM sort of scenes, I think the BDSM scenes are all at Blunts, but there was not a large number of them as there was mostly story and character development. I loved all of the Main characters, particularly Fleur of course, who is our main female character, but i also loved the main male characters too. I particularly loved Myles and Ten, but I also appreciated Cappa too. All of the main male characters had essential parts in the story and the story wouldn't work nearly as well if one was missing. There are some lighthearted fun scenes as well as some more serious where the characters are discussing past events that were traumatic, with most of the scenes more in the middle. The ending is particularly great and satisfying and there is an HEA. I am positive if you like BDSM stories that you will love this story. See the Reading List for a couple of Free Books.
