Tiptoeing the Line

There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with shattering a silence that has been lingering for too long. That sense of devilish achievement, the kind that fills the perpetrator with glee after disturbing a peace that once existed, is what Takuya lives for. That feeling is what he prepares himself to revel in as he approaches the small coffee shop ahead.
The night is dark, the stars being drowned out by the pools of light created by the few street lamps that connect the path between him and the small building. From the short distance away, he can see through the glass windows that the shop looks to be empty inside, excepting for the single employee standing behind the counter. His excitement grows as he sees that the boy appears fairly occupied with whatever he’s thinking about. Even better. He’ll have the element of surprise.
Once he has reached the shop, Takuya lifts his foot and kicks the door at the entrance of the café, the hinges making a gratifying creaking sound as they give way beneath his foot and swing the door open with a dramatic effect. Simultaneously, he yells out in the loudest singsong voice he can muster.
“Oh Jooooooooooo! Come out and play with me!!”
He smirks at the boy’s reaction, strutting up to the counter and placing his weight on it with both palms momentarily, before swinging his legs up and over the counter so he’s standing on the other side with his friend. A few cups topple off the counter, but Takuya pays them no mind.
“I’m booooored. Let’s do something crazy tonight, Joo.” He swings an arm around the smaller boy’s neck, squeezing his shoulder.
“C’mon! Be risky, kid.”
