A few observations about Daredevil
So having recently graduated law school and recently becoming obsessed with daredevil I feel as though I have some insight to share: 1. You can't take a language in law school. Let alone in your first year of law school. That shit is chosen for you. When we see Foggy's computer in episode 10 it says "civil procedure I" and "Punjabi". No. This doesn't happen. You take torts, contracts, civ pro, crim law, con law, property. You are told where and when you're classes are and that's it. 2. No one would pass up their job right out of school. Maybe this is a nod to the great person Matt Murdock is but like they had a job to be associates at a HUGE firm in NYC and they were like nahh lets do our own. Like if they wanted to they could have gotten jobs at a big deal defense firm and made good money. I mean they both graduated honors. I'm just saying how did they start a firm with student loans from Columbia Law. Law school is fucking expensive. 3. Foggy's hair timeline doesn't make sense. So Foggy and Matt are drunk talking about graduation and who is coming (Foggy's whole family) then they're interns at Lanman and Zach. Foggy's hair is long then shorter. They wouldn't intern after graduation because they would be studying for the bar. And since Foggy's hair is now shorter this just makes no sense at all. 4. In the comics they talk about prosecuting criminals. Defense attorneys aren't prosecutors. This shit makes no sense at all. 5. The one thing that ALWAYS BOTHERS ME ABOUT SHOWS WITH LAW: The timelines are fucked. So criminal law moves much faster than civil so with the criminal case about the guy in the bowling alley in episode 3 I think it is, that's fine. I mean they don't show witnesses or cross examination but assuming that's fine the opening and closings were pretty well written. But like the landlord tenant case they have they totally fucked. They should be in housing court which they're not and they're talking about settlements and foggy says how he wants to trip Fisk up in a depo. This is all muddled and makes no sense to me. I'm obviously not an expert on housing law, but this didn't go along with the process at all. Plus it seems that Mrs Cardinas had a shit ton of quiet enjoyment claims against her landlord. I don't want to put out that I am the most knowledgable in this area and maybe I'm wrong about some of the above but it just bugged me. Overall this show is amazing but they should call me up for season 2 to be their legal consultant.
