Biography:
Malvolio “Mal” Moon was born the second son of what was at one time the noble Moon family. That was until the family went down in an embezzlement scandal that took everything they had. The family moved into a one-bedroom apartment and struggled to get by while trying to keep on airs.
His mother always had dreams of regaining their family’s honor, but Mal was never a part of her plans. While she groomed her firstborn, Lucio, pushing him into lessons and social events and opportunities to elevate the family, Mal remained ignored and neglected, always second best. He always tried to prove himself, but could never be the golden child that Lucio was. Their home was quiet and cold, everyone detached from one another. His parents were looking for their best way out of their misery, and used their children as pawns and tools. Still, Mal looked up to his brother, considering him the only person who could understand him on some level.
Things only got worse when Lucio ran away. Mal was left alone with their parents. All of the pressures they’d put on Lucio were doubled and placed on Mal, their last hope for the family. He grew resentful of his brother, who had abandoned him. He decided he was going to be the opposite of Lucio. He was going to do everything his parents wished. He was not going to abandon his family, as difficult as they were. He went to school for business and studied hard, taking on student loans. After graduating top of his class, he began to work as a business analyst at a firm.
When he first saw Dolce Vita magazine and saw his brother’s name–albeit with a new surname–on the masthead, he became incensed. He set out to start his own firm, not wanting to be left in the dust of his brother’s success.
