I want to do a proper WiP update and battle recap later as I had a fun Combat Patrol match with my budding dynasty last week, but until I finish writing that up I want to give a quick update as it is not every day that such an illustrious guest appears on the tomb world of Medrem as everybody's favourite premature archeologist, tesseract labyrinth pokeball master of multiple galactic Segmentums, the "old man" of the old man yaoi, Mr. Worldwide Infinite himself:
Gruncle Trazyn is here to snatch artifacts from my corner of the galaxy and I can't wait to finish him and field him on the tabletop!
Big 🖤 to best girl @5149eszter who got me this mini and another soon to be assembled one that is essential for my planned "Infinite and the Divorced" strategem unit combo.
(and some rambling HC about my first army because I am completely normal about them and I can be fully trusted around narrative play situations)
The lush planet of Pyramidus Fundimundus IV, an agri-world that in the past ten millenia barely deserved a footnote in an Administratum clerks report from the Ultima Segmentum, is beset by misfortune.
The warp-tainted rift of the Cicatrix Maledictum paints a grim omen on the night sky, weighing heavily on the minds of the imperial citizens toiling it's fields. Windows are kept closed and curtained in the farmstead-cities during the night while families pray at the churches to the Emperor and his Saints to spare their crops from the ash-blight that have reared it's ugly head at a great number of fields in the past seasons.
But no amount of prayer can keep calamity at bay for eternity, and on one day the Grandather of Decay briefly smiles on this planet, as the heavy and rust-eaten boots of plague-marines land on it's defenseless streets. Miasma, sickness and death follows the warband's steps as they spread the ruinous gifts of Nurgle among the helpless populace.
However an (un)lucky few, who managed to hide in locked up rooms in the towering buildings catch a strange sight down below.
With flashes of sickly green lightning, seemingly out of the air itself dozens of skeletal looking metal creatures appeared, their eyes and strange weapons radiating with the same otherworldy cold green glow that heralded their arrival.
Without uttering a sound they started their march towards the traitorous astrates, while firing their gauss flayers in clockwork unison. But their ceramic laden targets did not used to be Emperor's finest warriors without a reason. As bolter fire answered the advancing creature's attack metal bodies shredded and more and more of the iron warriors fell to the ground.
The fight was quick and brutal, plague warriors mowing down and charging the eerie xenos. And then, just as they were reaching their assailants with their rust-laden combat knives a sudden flash of green light!
And as the charge-leading marine's vision cleared only the empty, smoldering debris on the streets showed any sign of their enemy, disappearing as mysteriously as they arrived minutes prior. They could not hear deep beneath their feets, in ancient noctilith laden crypts and buildings as the first words were spoken in those hallowed halls after sixty million years of slumber
"MepHet'ran FuCKINg DAMN IT!"
++++++Dramatis Personae+++++
Canoptekon Hauk the Radical
Lesser technomancer of the Sneferekh dynasty, Master of Scarabs, Keeper of the lesser Canoptik Truths
First to successfully get elevated from an eccentric Deathmark to an apprentek, and just before the Long Sleep as a Cryptek. Has a fondness to tinker with the Tomb World's scarab constructs and to use them in inventive ways. Has been one of the first ones to be awakened after the apparent failure of the Tomb Complex' null wards that should have kept warp shenanigans away.
Loves to zoom fast around his workshop and the canoptek mastaba complexes on top of his favourite pet spyder construct to the immense disaproval of his fellow crypteks.
Overlord Tynakh
Suzerain of the Tomb World of Medrem, Protector of the Seferekh Worlds, Terror of the Charnel Passage, Patron of the Canoptic Courts, Keeper of Ways, Conduit of Her Hekatik Will, Tyrant to the Foolish, Master of the Azure Legions and many more
Eternally stressesed Overlord and ruler of Medrem. Even in the era of Flesh he knew his responsible dominion escaped Fringeworld status only due to the presence of a relatively high number of Crypteks, and with getting assigned as their caretaker he drew the short straw in the crownworld's courtly politics.
After the sudden activation of the awakening protocols he proceeded to the surface to see what might have caused the failure of the warp defenses, only to be promptly sent back to the noble reanimation chambers ten minutes later due to a rather rude bolt round.
At the moment he just wants to
Keep this shitshow of an Awakening running
Somehow get in contact with the Crownworld to get instructions from his Phaerakh
Have a few weeks of peace and quiet before he has to deal with his eventually awakened Court and Cryptek circle
Vargard Sannaek
Captain Despotek of the immortal warriors of the Umbral Khaepesh
Biotransference takes a lot away from a necrontyr's personality. But in Sannaek's opinion he and his battle brethren have retained what matters most in life, including
Duty and honour to the dynastic way of life
Unwavering following of the founding Triarchal traditions
Respect to the blue, white and purple of the Seferekhan flag and to their Pledge of Allegiance that they took to their phaerakh
Their inalienable right and knowledge to operate an Amarkun-Raekh-15 heavy gauss flayer, with which they can liquidate 30-50 rebellious rapscallions within 3-5 mins while defending their nobles
Just as the founding Triarchs have intended.
As the Tomb World starts to slowly rise from it's slumber unleashing new metallic undead horrors and characters on the grim dark universe of 400.000 warhammers we will see how this dynasty will fare. Will the Overlord learn about what happened to their Crownworld? Why are there rumors that ships orbiting his planet bear the dynastic ankhs of the Nihilakh of Solemnance? What will the Sisters of battle in a nearby monastery-world do if they learn about their presence? Will technomancer Hauk do a sick ollie with his favourite spyder to cause a flux-cascade failure in his fellow crypteks?
Tune in later to learn more about these and more as I paint my silly little guys and bring them to battle at our friendly local game clubs!
