MMITW Animorphs AU!! It lives in my head rent free and mine alone because hello, who makes AUs of their own (unpublished) story featuring their OCs?? X’3

Dunno if I’ll ever polish off this sketch, but it was fun to do! All the characters here are younger than they appear in MMITW, which was interesting for me to do, as some of them have very different personalities!

If y’all wanna hear a bit more about the AU and also the characters, there’s some of my notes under the cut!

From left to right: EV, Rocket, Nyx, Bea, Amelia, Scout, Merlo. Behind them are their battle morphs! Wolverine, wolfdog, tarantula hawk wasp, tiger, puma, northern harrier, Harris hawk, respectively.

The AU takes place in the early 2000′s, and the main cast are all between the ages of 13 - 17 years old.

Amphimorpho replace the Andalites from the original series, and were created by another alien civilization which wishes to destroy human society and take Earth for themselves. The Amphimorpho feel an obligation to protect humanity from this fate.

Rocket and EV are best friends, and the former tends to hide behind the latter. Nyx is mostly friends with EV, but practically acts like the older sibling to the aforementioned duo.

Also EV is absolutely the most feral member of the squad. Who let this 13 year old get a wolverine morph??

Rocket is super awkward and quiet until they’re in morph, at which point they become a great deal more confident. No one can misgender you when you’re a big scary wolf or a silly crow, after all. 

Nyx almost exclusively uses bug or reptile morphs. Their favorites are sphinx moths and wasps.

Merlo is a young amphimorpho that got separated and lost from the others, and was found by Scout. The two of them hang out at the library or the bird rescue Scout’s mom is in charge of.

Scout prefers being a bird over being a human (Tobias is that you??)

Bea and Amelia are the two punks occasionally causing trouble at school. They’ve got a crush on each other but they’re both completely oblivious to the others’ feelings.

Amelia has a hard time controlling her morphs and it actually terrifies her, except she also doesn’t want Bea to think she’s a wuss and tries to do things out of her comfort zone or too fast anyways.

All of them, with the exception of Merlo, ditched the school dance to go investigate the thing that crashed in the woods. Things kinda proceed similarly to the original series from there.

Story is definitely a lot more light-hearted than Animorphs, because I like soft fluffy things >w>”

Okay!! A bunch of you said yes, so here’s my messy sketches for a scene from chapter 3! It’s been jokingly titled “Rocket comes out of the closet” because I can’t pass up the opportunity to shoehorn in a queer joke with my queer protag X’3

For context, Rocket’s been staying elsewhere after their little mishap out in the woods, without telling EV exactly what happened. She came over to bring them some stuff and check how they’re doing, and this is how that plays out

They’ve been friends since middle school...EV basically saw Rocket in the hallway on the first day and went “HI I LIKE YOUR JACKET WANNA BE MY FRIEND??” Rocket was too nervous to say no.
