Maddie lore below cut (tws for transphobia, murder, heavy drinking, and suicide)

Maddie used to be a human woman, aged 22, when she lived in a major us city with her parents and younger sister, Willow. Maddie had very few friends, and their parents were on the verge of disowning her for her lack of motivation in joining the workforce. So she spent as much time as she could with Willow, given that neither of them were particularly well liked by their parents.

When Willow was 17, she was walking home from work when a group of strangers attacked and killed her.

Maddie was furious and distraught. Her parents invited all of their nearby family members around to mourn the loss of their 'son'. She yelled and screamed at them, to no avail. They kicked her out of the house and told her never to come back.

Alone at a bar, the thoughts started to cloud her head. She had nobody left. If only she was there to save Willow. It's all her own fault that she's in this situation. Maddie took a knife from the table, slipped into the bathroom, and took her own life.

In the coming days, the Anomalous Containment and Research Institute was alerted to a string of unusual murders in the city. Everyone in a local family, some as far as over state lines, as well as over a dozen young men, were killed by being cut with an unknown weapon of extreme sharpness. Some bodies were simply run through the heart, cleanly parting bone and tissue, while others were sliced in half or even into hundreds of tiny pieces.

The trail led them to a grim specter lurking in an alley, its blade still dripping from the corpse it stood over. It quickly recognized it was in danger and lunged for a containment specialist. Its blade had barely grazed the man's throat when its body began to convulse.

When it broke out of the hold, the specter began to attack the containment team, but its blade passed right through their bodies and weapons, leaving no trace of a wound. The team had been expecting a spirit like this, and prepared accordingly with an anomalous trap of their own. The containment specialist was marked with a curse that caused the first creature to attack him to be unable to harm anyone or anything that belonged to his agency.

With the spirit helpless, ACRI brought it into custody, where it revealed itself to be named Maddie. She shared her backstory, and was sealed away in a chamber for further research.

She was assigned to a doctor named Deborah Nolan. A bitter, cruel scientist who held no sympathy for Willow, which quickly drew Maddie's anger. For five minutes straight, Maddie yelled and cursed at Dr. Nolan, attempting to cut her into tiny pieces with her sword. Nothing happened of course, and Maddie curled up on the floor and started to weep.

Dr. Nolan quickly gained acclaim for her research into anomalous super-sharp blades. Maddie, along with the other inhabitants of site Tau-5, successfully completed a containment breach with the help of an anonymous organization. Six anomalies escaped safely (Maddie, Citre, Ivy, Grace, Brook, and Ellie), though an intelligent computer program known as Rosalie was destroyed during the breach, and an animated fossil, Lotus, opted to stay behind.

Maddie quickly grew closer with her fellow escapees at the rehabilitation site, where the story currently takes place.

Day 15: !lotus! they are all spending the day at the beach collecting shells and pretty rocks 🥹 Ves is info dumping about Ocean Facts™ ; iii is annoying ii and trying to splash him (and failing. ii is loving it though) ; ivy is making a sandcastle and using Lotus' pebbles and shells as decoration 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

Vess: This is a mole crab. they eat algae and plankton, which means they are filter feeders.

Lotus gets super excited from small things, mainly thing IV makes for her (food, clothes, etc)

II, III, & IV: The Babies!! (they get very emotional when Vessel and Lotus do things they think are cute. another reason is because they can tell Lotus is growing up [she is starting to speak bigger sentences, thats how they can tell])

this is the second to last prompt and i am giving myself an extra day to do the last one because it feels like a big milestone i guess.

the program im using for these feel slightly better then procreate and i love it! but i think im going to keep using it for doodles and then procreate for bigger projects.

i think i will get a little teary eyed when i finish this prompt list off lol.
