I still can’t get over how well Shots by Imagine Dragons fits Rebound.

It’s like it was written for a regretful turncoat MTO with self-esteem issues and a pervasive fear that every decision he makes is the wrong one and will get himself and the people he cares about hurt.

Stillwatch: Yes. Yes, I would have. But I'm just as glad I didn't have to. The paperwork's a pain in the ass.

Rebound’s actually a pretty cool guy when he doesn’t let his anxiety get the better of him. I mean, the poor mech has almost no social skills at all, but his practical skills are impressive to just about anybody. He’s got stellar perception and memory when it comes to the world around him. Hell, he could probably make a half-decent map of a smallish building just by walking through it once or twice. Same thing goes for remembering how to fix or build things. If he can get it right once, he can do it again at pretty much any time (as long as its not, like, way way later with no refreshers or anything, of course). 

Of course, he can barely learn a single thing from a book, or a lecture, so people tend to underestimate him. Putting him in a usual “learning” environment is pretty much dooming him to failure. He just has to actually get some real-world practice using whatever skill he’s trying to learn, or else it doesn’t stick no matter how much he wants it to.

I want to talk about the Sad Traitor Child. (That’s Rebound, btw.) 

He is depressed and young and traumatized and doesn’t know what to do with himself because he doesn’t want to be a soldier but that’s all anyone ever seems to be anymore. He doesn’t have any other skills, and few people have the time or patience to teach him. He can shoot things and he can be sarcastic; that’s about all he’s learned to do. It’s sad. He deserved better. 

Shame he couldn’t find purpose with the Autobots or the Decepticons. Would have saved a few people a lot of grief. Himself included.
