Excellent point, and you’ll be happy to know I’m dragging Riaz and Imogen to the front lines in The Warlock in the Shadows so you will be seeing more of them!

Welcome back to OC rambles - Crimes edition!!

For context Riaz is a warlock and they are recluse by nature and Riaz in particular is just mean. He has been Ibhans academic rival for years and the two collide often. Imogen is a garden witch and has frogs as a familiar and is seen as a lovable airhead however she has no family other than the community she found in the forest and her friendship with Kyda - her life before then is rather ambiguous

Riaz - other than crimes of treason committed in the plot of the wand and the wolf, I think he’s a small time thief. It started as snacks from the store when he wasn’t given coins from his parents but eventually it was just habit to tuck things into his pockets when no one was looking, shiny spoons, letters, wallets. He had a box where he keeps some of the more sentimental items he’s taken. Small time violence because of his Complex, hitting people allows you to stay on top I guess

Imogen - treason, obstruction of justice, harbouring a fugitive, possessing lethal amounts of herbs that can be used as weapons, suspect in two assassination cases, one charge of grand larceny, one charge of assaulting a guard, possession of illegal mushrooms, missing permits for growth of exotic plants, and jaywalking.

Bread soup: a character that developed into way more than intended?

I have only just introduced this absolute menace called Riaz and I can already tell, he's not gonna leave. He was only supposed to be around to create a little rivalry with Ibhan when he completes his Apprenticeship as a senior warlock, but it has since developed into a rivals to friends/ found family kind of bond and I actually really love it, they work so well together

Ibhan is - playing matchmaker???? Ft Riaz and Imogen potentially being mates

“I have nothing to lose,” he said though his gaze was fixed elsewhere. I looked over my shoulder to see him fixated on Imogen as she focused, brows furrowed and curls tumbling over her shoulders as she ground the herbs.

“But apparently, a lot to gain,” I said and he shot me a quizzical look. “What colour is her aura?” I asked and I saw him adjust his focus as he looked for it, his face going a little slack-jawed as he did.

“Oh it’s a beautiful shade of yellow, like sunlight at dawn,” he said and I couldn’t help but snort a laugh.

“Go over there, and offer to grind the herbs,” I said to him, snapping him out of his daze.

“But what if she’s…?” He spread his hands in question and I sighed.

“All the more reason for you to go over there, right now,” I said with a glare and he took a deep breath before he did. Mate attractions were not always so easy to recognise, I got lucky with Kyda since wolves are one of the more sensitive species to it, but Riaz would have to figure this one out with Imogen.

“I think they’d be cute together,” Damien said and Eliza hummed in agreement.

I have to agree with Damien on this one, Imogen and Riaz would be very very cute
