Purgatory Characters
Purgatory is a miserable place its residents have deemed to be between heaven and hell, though not much worse than the latter. Human souls end up here through an unknown process, warped into new forms by ancient powers.
Unlike most denizens, Buck and Diana Aldwin were brought into Purgatory together. Buck quickly saw the horrors bearing heavy on them and has steeled himself to defend his little sister from anything that might seek to bring her harm.
Cala Houghton, reshaped into a living doll, lends her voice to Purgatory's leading radio broadcast. Her body is not her own and she struggles each day to try and reclaim it.
Skulking between derelict buildings, Hera Santangel ekes out a living on the monster remains she sells to her eager customers. On the off chance she's not working, she spends her downtime cuddled up next to her lover, Cala.
One of the few people Buck tentatively trusts to watch his sister is Caitlyn Falkner. When she's not babysitting Diana, her highly profitable scavenging enterprise allows her to finance her second apartment, where she secretly regresses to a childlike state to cope with trauma both past and present.
Rosie Vuah, Caitlyn's business contact (and secret admirer), prepares and retouches scavenged goods and does the more delicate interactions with their dubious customer base.
The head of the local scavenging scene, Cole Hirschell rules with a metaphorical iron fist and two literal giant floating fists. While he puts on a stern front, he has enough of a soft side to give Caitlyn a generous discount on her regression gear.
While most would blame greed or antisemitic conspiracies, Cole's real motivation is the health of his love, Vic Moses. Trapped in a massive, immobile hive, Vic's only contact with the outside world is what their insect acquaintances can glean on their outings or the precious little time they can spend with Cole.
Its mind wracked by the horrors of being reshaped, the Blaggard prowled the streets of Purgatory after its quarry, anything wearing metal armour. After breaking into an apartment complex trying to hunt Sir Tin T., it was begrudgingly taken in by Buck, Diana, Caitlyn, and Rosie.
A not sinister, but quite annoying presence in the apartment complex, Kitty Phantom floats through the halls in search of her next source of excitement. Bound to the building, Kitty scares pedestrians outside the windows, flirts with the Blaggard, pranks Buck, or whatever else helps her pass her endless boredom.
Sir Tin, T., gallant protector of the apartment, isn't exactly sure why he found the place, but his strong sense of duty drives him to protect Diana. While Buck initially had no patience for him, he's admittedly nice to have around.
An up-and-coming newbie in the scavenging scene, Karina Cardiff has been bringing in bigger and more lucrative goods. While she's not necessarily a threat, she has little interest in company.

Finding himself in Purgatory shortly after his twin sister, Abe Falkner has quickly found good money in this place. Plenty of awful people pay him good money to do terrible things, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Enthralled by Abe's violent and cruel past with his sister, Rodrick O'Madden has found himself spending more and more time with Abe. Selling used survival gear by day, Rodrick spends his nights dreaming of the day he can have both Caitlyn and Abe all to himself.

While uncommon, denizens of Purgatory spin yarns of having seen angelic figures around the city at night, capable of impossible feats. The current theory is that the Stardust, Sequence, and Supernova Angels are the forces in charge of reshaping humans, Purgatory's landscape, and its monsters.
