I’ve been in a BIG DB mood so I’ve been playing with Lum and company. <3
1. Finally finishing some refs for my other OCs, then afterwards I wanted to draw Lum and Giyra in wonder woman/amazoness outfits; either they were dragged into a gladiator tournament OR one of the many trial runs of their Superhero outfits. Lum and Giyra vehemently disapprove.
2. This doodle is just to highlight the fact that Lum being unable to fly is a very sore spot for her-- up until she learns why she cannot, on top of the fact that out of all her friends, she can ride a Nimbus.
3. A random page of doodles of Lum! I’ve been toying with the idea of pulling a Sakura and having her storing excess Ki in her forehead, after somewhere around the Tournament of Power. And the doodle
4... which brings me to my next doodle EEYYYO I’ve been consuming as much of DBLegends as I can, and I just fucking adore Shallot. LOL So this is me practicing drawing him on top of having him hold Lum because as a flyer, everyone is obligated to hold Lum at least once. Also: Lum in something nice because a GoD Candidate at this point, she’s taking the opportunity to live Her Best Life as she can. Which includes nice clothes.

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
The death knight version of Lum is actually an AU version of his first version, that was a mage. But I love the death knight version too much, so I use it as main verse now. And the thing is... I came up with it in a dream, where Lum landed in Ice Crown Citadel and was awakened as death knight. Of course the story is a bit altered now to fit canon, but that was how I came up with him.
2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?
No, I didn’t.
3. How did you choose their name?
When I first created Lum, I was thinking about a name that could envoke the feeling of light. So I looked it up in various languages and found the latin word Lumen. I made it to Lumenos which is his full name, but I shortened it to Lum, which is his nickname.
4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?
Pretty much the scourge and all the events from Warcraft 3 and Wrath of the Lich King... a big influence on creating an undead character in Azeroth ^^
5. Is there any significance behind their hair colour?
His hair is blood red and it is so because in character creation I was greeted with an elf who had blood red hair and I loved it. I made it so that he was from a village where most of the elfs were blond and his hair colour often would evoke fun for how gruesome it could look.
6. Is there any significance behind their eye colour?
Naaah. All high elves/blood elves have the same shine in their eyes anyway.
7. Is there anything significance behind their height?
Yeah, I wanted to make him small ^^ He is around 1,64 m tall and it always nags a bit at his self consciousness. He wanted to grow really big, but he died at the equivalent elf age of 16 compared to humans and as an Undead can’t grow anymore. Also, as a death knight he gained a surge in strenght and his tiny size often makes people underestimate him. Also, he can be perfectly picked up like this by his bestie ^^
8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?
Mostly that he started out with really bad social anxiety that got better with the years. That is something that happened with myself too. From not being able to talk to other people from me being able to start to ask for directions or similar things from complete strangers. He hade a similar experience.
9. Are they based off of you, in some way?
Only his love of sweets and especially chocolate is based off myself.
10. Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?
Nah ^^ The thing is, the first creation of Lum was intended to be some playboy cause I thought it was interesting to play. He pretty much took it around and one day I got it: “Oh, he is bisexual.”
11. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: Writing, drawing, edits etc.)?
I haven’t used this version of Lum to really make art yet, only his first version was used for RPs. I think the most difficult thing is... get him out in the open. I am kind of anxious sharing one of my oldest OC out there, but I don’t want him to be my secret anymore.
13. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
He’s undead and pretty okay with it, sees it as a second chance in life. He is an amazing cook, especially baker.
14. What is something about your OC that can make you laugh?
The height difference and that his newfound strenght can be a bit much for him xD Like, he just picks up a table with one hand to place it elsewhere and people just stare at him and he is like “Huh... um, didn’t really realize that I was able to do this...”
15. What is something about your OC that can make you cry?
He turned into a death knight and was missing for quite a long time and also, like in the canon lore, did some atrocious things while under control of the lich king. He still feels terrible about it and people may call him out about it. He very much knows how wrong it was killing all these innocents and it can happen that he just needs to retreat for a while, trying to process being undead now.
16. Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?
Nah, I thought a lot about him and I am pretty content with his story ^^
17. What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?
He loves to try and play match maker for his friends or people he cares about. He can get quite annoying while trying this.
18. What is your favourite fact about your OC?
That pretty much everyone who looks at him says “Oh, he’s cute ^^” I am tagging @anaurael @nightmaredaisy @modounbubble @gitgudetama Give me some OC facts! Also, for anyone who wants too, feel free to do it ^^
