Zoisite! - a gossip buddy for Porphy

Zoisite is admittedly a name I think I’ve seen around here before (sorry!!), but hopefully the color palette I chose isn’t a carbon copy T_T I kinda grew up in fandom communities that shamed mixing canon with OCs, so Zoisite is probably my first proper attempt at really mixing the two.

Zoisite, for the record, is not a Hatchling OC, and they occupy my Treekeeper au! And as I have no art with which to offer, the rest of this is going to be under a read more because I like talking too much and the floodgates have opened with this one. Odds of me coming back to edit things once I'm less sleepy are high

I’ve been considering them to be (navy) green with a purple scale pattern, because I think the purple-green zoisite is SO pretty <3 Like Brookite and Ferro, Zoisite is based heavily off of another of my D&D characters (though finally a different one! One not as traumatized!). They also tend to wear…I’m not gonna call it “skimpy”, but they definitely don’t mind showing skin (and they overheat quite easily anyway).

Zoisite is roughly Porphy’s age (a bit older though) and grew up with them. They know how to make sapwine, but they also like adding substances to it for their own benefit (or for others, should they wish to partake). They’re very friendly (almost a bit too much) and admittedly quite flirtatious. They’re very receptive to the word “no”, however, and much of their “flirting” is playful and without deeper meaning.

I’ve been leaving Zoisite by the wayside for a couple of weeks because I was hemming and hawing over the relationship I wanted them to have with Rutile, given Zoisite’s interests. I enjoyed the idea of an apprentice, but was similarly fond of the idea of a romantic partner.

“But you can’t do both!” I cried to myself for a few weeks.

And then I went ahead and decided that Zoisite and Porphy were very good friends with similar interests. Just a couple of those being sapwine and romantically interested in a Hearthian older than them.

Poor Rutile.

So Zoisite occasionally helps Porphy gather sap for their wine (where they exchange gossip), helps them brew, and is Rutile’s original apprentice – and now partner. In more ways than one ::>

I feel a bit bad being so excited to write for them, but I want to write them and Porphy being gossipy about their crushes, and Zoisite flustering a grumpy Rutile (because it’s a pairing dynamic I’m very, very fond of)!

Adding on to this to say that they love children very much! They enjoy keeping watch over newborns at the hatchling pools as well.

If Brook vanishes on the flight back to Timber Hearth though, I'll for sure need to work on Vana. They would not react well to their older sibling being Lost.

I think Zoisite would blame Feldspar. Because I'm coming to realize that Zoisite's feelings regarding Feldspar go a bit deeper than just them being worried Rutile's old crush will resurface.
