“Not that you’d care,” he snapped back forcefully, the immediately a feeling of guilt pounded his stomach as he caught her expression of sudden disdain.

“Force of habit, I’m sorry,” he blubbered, his eyes overflowing and streaming down his cheeks in a hot burst.

He covered his mouth to muffle the voice achy whimpers, and May hurriedly scooted close, her face had fallen into a soft droop of concern.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered, his eyes glued to the ground.

“I overreacted to something I-I don-don”t even deserve you at this point.”

May slid her gloved hand under Kai’s chin and tilted his head to face hers.

She was so, so pretty. Smelled like peaches and wet dirt.

Pulling away reluctantly from eachother, burning hazel green clashed with swift and impulsive blue. He quietly slipped his palm up against hers and intertwined their fingers. He could hold her hand now.
