Hello and welcome to Strong Heart Ranch!
We are a nonprofit organization located on the eastern side of the Poblikto Islands, Northeast of Sinnoh. We are open Tuesday-Saturday, and our times vary per season.
Spring: 9am-7:30pm
Summer: 9am-9pm
Fall: 9am-7:30pm
Winter: 9am-5pm
Our main focus at SHR is rescue and rehabilitation. While that is our main goal we offer a multitude of other services. We have classes and sessions revolved around training, Pokémon care, type care, behavioral care, and even adoptions. If you are interesting in adoption we recommend looking online first before coming and spending time to see if the pairing is right. We do thorough background checks, home checks, and even offer small lessons on care for that Pokémon. We are licensed and able to host both online and in person classes for your dragon tamer license.
We have 2 different camp options hosted in the summer both lasting 2 weeks total. We host a children and teens camp and an adult camp during the month of June and July. More info will be revealed closer to the time of action.

This world runs with a mixture of the anime, manga, games, and any HC I see that would fit best. This blog has multiple characters but the main and one you’ll see most is Spade. Chrissy and May are the second set of main characters here. I have a lot of the characters and story planned out for the future it just may take some time to get it done and finalize it enough for me to post it.
I’ll be starting this after the Hisui arc(with Spade) with selective info on that as I’m working on writing the story now but that will be out eventually.

Hi everyone, it’s Spade here talking but this message is from everyone here at SHR. I’m here to remind everyone of some of the rules we have here at the ranch as we’ve had a recent incident happen and would just like to remind everyone.
Catching Pokémon on the island is strictly prohibited. It’s forbidden as this is meant to be a place where Pokémon can live in peace without the possibility of being caught. We have Pokémon up for adoption if you come for new Pokémon that would love a new home.
If you see any Pokémon you don’t think “belong” here, we ask that you please report the sighting to staff and NOT take action in your own hands.
Yes I know, seeing a Galarian Rapidash or another foreign Pokémon not found in Sinnoh may be cool or confusing, but it’s normal. This island is home to all kinds of Pokémon from everywhere around. Not to mention many of our staff have pokemon not from Sinnoh so if you think you’re doing good by catching it, you’re probably trying to catch a staff member’s pokemon.
We had a visitor catch a glimpse of our local Galarian Rapidash cryptid, Mystic, and thought it would be a good idea to approach and catch. They ended up putting themselves and their Pokémon in serious danger as they walked into the off limits area and got sorely bested by said mon. They then came crying to us and threatened to sue. (Don’t worry the situation was handled properly ((eh)) and his Pokémon were fine)
Mystic doesn’t like to be in the eye of the public and like many other Pokémon we have here, prefers to stay hidden and be left alone. While it’s cool catching glimpses of her and others, we ask that you respect the Pokémon here and leave them be.
This place is their home first, and your visiting spot second.

With artfight coming up I’ve put my focus on updating refs and getting ready for all that. I have some things I was doing for this blog before but they’ve been put on hold just until I can get situated for af.
With the updating/fixing refs, I’ve redone some of my Pokémon refs for my characters. I’m not finished with everything but when I am expect old ref posts to be deleted and redone. Lore wise not much if anything has changed just the refs.
When I’m done with everything for af I will be going back and finishing a huge lore/timeline project I have going for here. So expect that within the next few weeks or more likely the end of July. I probably won’t post much on here until af is done but we’ll see. Unsure about the future tbh, could take a break and work on stuff for the blog, could not I don’t know.
Thank you all for sticking with me through my absence and thank you so much for over 50 followers. I never thought this blog would gain this much attention and I’m very thankful. It makes me so happy people are enjoying my art and world building.

Some marker doodles I did recently. I’m really happy with the Dratini. Boa is my baby. I like my markers cause I just smash colors together and it’s fun.
Leroy Brown has been haunting me, so I looked into his backstory and it's wilder than you could possibly imagine.
Leroy Brown was about one pound when he was caught in 1973 in Lake Eufala, Alabama, by Tom Mann, who is absolutely legendary in the world of bass fishing. Instead of releasing or taking him home to eat, Mann decided he recognized a spark of something special in the fish, so he took him home and popped him in his backyard pond. Later, he moved the fish to a giant aquarium in his workshop. He was an aggressive fish, so he got named after the song. And Mann loved this fish. He trained him to jump through a hoop, he hand-fed him, he would talk about him to anybody. The fish became internationally known, with publicity in Russia, South Africa, Australia, and other countries.
Then, in 1980, the fish dies- probably of old age. So what to do? Have a funeral. Various sources say between 500 and 1,200 people came (there was a very large bass fishing tournament that weekend), and the local marching band was there to play "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" as the fish's tiny casket was lowered into his grave.
But then things got really wild. On the day of the funeral, it was eventually decided that the ground was too wet and muddy, so Mann put the fish and his casket (actually a satin-lined tackle box full of one dead fish and the lure he was caught with) in the freezer.
That night, somebody stole the dead fish and his tiny casket.
Seriously. This was not a taxidermy fish, this was just. Y'know. A dead fish, with all of the smells that entails.
Three weeks later, the tackle box turns up at the Tulsa, Oklahoma airport. A baggage handler found it, and it was decided that the box full of three-week-old decaying Leroy was too nasty to ship back to Alabama. The statue remained at Fish World, which is where the public could visit Leroy during his life, until 2005, when Tom Mann died and the facility was closed. (Fish World was like... a weird museum/facility to learn about bass fishing. Mann wasn't just an expert angler, he also designed some of the most popular lures that are still used in bass fishing, as well as the Humminbird depth finder- still the most popular depth finder brand on the market. So he had this workshop/lure lab there and people could come see his stuff but also learn about how to go bass fishing and how to do bass fishing as a sport.) The statue went to another bass fisherman, until the city of Eufala asked for it back in 2016. Now it sits prominently on Main Street, reminding everyone that most bass are just fish, but Leroy Brown was something special.

Hello there, my names Wren, and I saw that you have an alpha Luxray and Noivern which got me thinking. Have you ever considered training them to be ride Pokémon? Since both species are very well adapted to their respective terrains. The reason I’m asking is because some of my extended family train their alpha Pokémon to be ridden. Why my family does this is because we’ve always preferred getting around on a Pokémon for generations now, not to mention Pokémon have always been super friendly around my family. It should also be said that quite a few of us also get really bad motion sickness on other modes of transportation that doesn’t involve a Pokémon for some strange reason.
Hi! Cyclo and Zap-Zip are ride Pokémon I often use! Zap-Zip is more friendly and will often let other members of the ranch ride on his back and help where he can. He got me around a lot and I wouldn’t have made it in Hisui without him.
Cyclo is a bit more cautious but will let a very few people ride on his back. When I was staying in Lumiose he was my ride around the city.
I also have an alpha Walrien named Loch who helps me and others out around the waters edges of the island. He’s quite friendly when he warms up to you.
Getting around on Pokémon definitely feels more natural and I don’t feel cramped or hindered or anything negative one can sometimes get in a vehicle. It’s by far my preferred option. When I need to make quick trips to the mainland I have a plethora of mons willing to help me get there. No offense to the ferries but I much prefer the ocean or sky air!
I really like to see other people agree with this notion. Especially if the Pokémon is friendly and is willing. Glad to see another person with alphas. I’m kinda glad they’re making a comeback, it feels like that part of nature that allowed alphas to exist is healing.

Once again I beg the general public to do their research on trubbish!! It is true that wild trubbish expel toxic gases, but trained ones do not! Once they befriend a trainer, they stop this!!! There is literally nothing wrong with a janitor having one, it helps with the job!
Trained trubbish are remarkably good for the area they live in, they eat litter, for arc’s sake. The more trubbish there are, the less actual garbage there is.
People who don’t want trubbish around need to look into their kind eyes and have a SHOWSTOPPING musical number where they come to terms with how wrong they were. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. Can you tell I love poison types.
Skitty! One of the biggest questions I see around about these little guys is their eyes; why are they constantly closed?
Well! Actually, Skitty do not (usually) keep their eyes completely closed! Skitty are actually nocturnal by nature; this is true of Delcatty as well, but to a slightly lesser degree due to how spur-of-the-moment they tend to be, but I digress.
Skitty keep their eyes almost entirely closed because they are extremely sensitive to light and movement; if they opened them all the way during the day, they would be essentially blinded! If you were to see a Skitty in almost pitch-black lightning, you would likely see its eyes open a little! I'm not entirely sure why their eyes are so sensitive, that even in the dark, they keep them mostly closed, so if anyone knows, I'd love some extra input!
Also, to cope with the limited vision, the very fine whiskers they have, as well as the sensitive tufts on the end of their tail (plus huge ears), give Skitty plenty of extra feedback on the world around them. This is why Skitty tend to lash out if you touch their tails without permission; you're interfering with one of their primary senses! It's like if someone poked you in the eye unexpectedly.
The sensitive eyes are a product of evolution and domestication. A very long time ago the Skitty line used to be entirely nocturnal. Like today we theorize that any exposure to the sun would cause incredible damage and blindness to their eyes so they weren’t seen in day. It wasn’t until people started to domesticate them that we started to see more of the species we know today.
(Personally, I think the process may have done more harm than good but that’s just me)
As evolution started taking place their eyes started getting used to, and adapting to, the sun. Unfortunately that sensitivity has never fully gone away and even seems to affect their night vision making them sensitive to both light and air.
That issue seems to be “fixed” with evolution to Delcatty though. While they’re still primary nocturnal Delcatty can see much better in the day than it’s pre evolution.
